BTW, I put an NOS off white (Argent) grill on my Yenko Tribute. I don't know it's mfg date, but the surround was cracked in transit, or at the dealer's and sat on a shelf for a long, long time. The guy I bought it from, had it for 15-20 years with the intent of using it on one of his projects, I think I got lucky (and opened up my wallet) to get it. If the date is molded in, in a place I can see it while installed, I can look for it, and report back.

I believe the SS&RS Camaro grills were molded in black and the standard a different color. I read that the standard was in off white also, if it's true and I heard in light gray too. I also read that black grills were later replacements.

That was my thinking too, but I'm always learning.
Anyone, is there a date code somewhere? If so, advise, and I'll look for it on my NOS Standard (Argent) grill. That might shed some light on non-assembly line off white grills. |

A argent silver grille is part# 3957044 and the SS black grille is part# 3957062. That's telling me they are molded in two different colors, or GM would have used only one grille painting either argent or black. The part number might be molded into the grille somewhere, not sure where.
