If you're looking for the "Day 2" look....the C427X in a good candidate. If you're fine with the stock look, the factory "163" intake actually works better than the C427X. I believe it was someone on here that did a comparison back in the day and the Edelbrock didn't perform as well as the factory intake. Kurt |

Re: Grandfather's 68 SS Camaro.
I plan on keeping the C427X purely for the Day 2 look.

Re: Grandfather's 68 SS Camaro.
By the way, what's the best way to clean it without pulling it off the car? The grime and cruddyness ruins it.

Re: Grandfather's 68 SS Camaro.
I spray carb cleaner. Maybe try Simple Green or Purple Power first and see if that will work. Just be sure to wash it off thoroughly and cover up the carburetor and anything electrical.

Re: Grandfather's 68 SS Camaro.
I've asked my grandfather about the car's hatred of running right (loads up like there's no tomorrow, and good Lord, this thing just falls flat on its face under acceleration) for the umpteenth time, and he suggested something quite plausible: Carbon buildup. The motor doesn't look like it was ever taken apart. I know seafoam is supposed to clean it up. Wondering if I should try it.

Re: Grandfather's 68 SS Camaro.
I'd look more in the direction of tune up type stuff, ignition, and carb. I'm not sure what type of carb it is but falling on its face could well be a faulty accelerator pump from sitting.

Re: Grandfather's 68 SS Camaro.
Not that. Carb has been replaced, spark plugs replaced, cap and rotor.Still does it.

Re: Grandfather's 68 SS Camaro.
Listen to Jason. Most carbs need work right out of the box. Look into it.

Re: Grandfather's 68 SS Camaro.
Wasn't right out of the box actually. It works brilliantly on the Chevelle. It's gotta be something else.
