Default Dickey Betts RIP

Just saw that Allman Brothers guitarist Dickey Betts passed away at 80 years old. He was one of the greatest guitar players of all time. I saw the Allman Brothers in concert 4 times. The first time I saw them Betts had his hand in a cast with just his index finger and thumb out of the cast.

Back in the day they were my favorite band. Wore out Live at Fillmore East album and had to buy another. Saw them at Fillmore West. Rest in Peace Dickey.....

They just don’t play the slide guitar like he did in today’s Muzak . Him and Duane Allman had such a cool and unique sound
RIP

"Back seat of a Greyhound bus rollin down Hwy 41"....I've criss-crossed Hwy 41 a hundred times, Ramblin Man always runs through my mind. Actually came on the radio in the shop while I'm writing this!!

RIP Dickey

In 1968-69, we had a local radio station, on AM, that eschewed top 40 stuff and played music by little know artists and the Allman Bros, was one of the groups that got a fair amount of air time. I mean, this was in central MN and we hadn't heard much southern bluesy/rock up here, but those guys played music that just grabbed the soul and wouldn't let go. That same station, KQRS 92, still exists today and were playing tributes to Dickey, as well as early stuff including Duane.
