their is a pretty good reason you've never seen a pic of that jet 'vette...it wasn't very old when it crashed at Pittsburgh International killing the driver.
it was the only fatal accident at PID which wasn't far from my house.
found this info, probably more on the web somewhere..

That’s one of my few regrets as well. But – in my (our) defense – it was tough back then, as a pre-teen. I had to borrow Mom & Dad’s “good” camera (or use my little Brownie), and then you had to come up with film somehow, and then beg Mom or Dad to go get the film developed….only to find they didn’t turn out for some reason.

Certainly not like today –

Art used to bring his "Green Monster" jet car(s) to Stanton (aka McBrides aka Edmore aka Central Michigan Dragway) aka Mid Michigan Motorplex.

There used to be a great big oak tree behind the starting line. Art fired up his car and killed half the tree. He came back the next year and killed the other half.

There also used to be a plank fence behind the starting line. The planks were attached to the back side of the supports, so when he hit the burner it blew the planks across the road and into the potato field on the other side.

When he came back the next year they had reattached the fence planks to the front side of the supports.

My dad started racing at Stanton the year before it was paved (1956 or so). There was a concrete starting pad and you ran off that into the grass. You also had to stop on occasion to let the airplanes land.
