Thumbs down amk products restoration bolts

Has anyone had any issues with the quality of there products or customer service. I purchased a engine bolt kit from them. The crankshaft balancer bolt looked good, and it is suppose to be grade 8. That bolt has a torque of 70 ft. lbs. and the bolt broke off in the crank, nowhere even close to the torque. It did not twist, it just pop snaped off. The metal at the break looks all shiney metalic. Either the hardening process was wrong or bad steel. I sent them a email and have never heard back from them.

I have had good luck with them overall and have dealt with Heather on any issues I had.

I would keep calling until you get satisfaction.
I've never had a problem with them either.
They have no control over the quality of the stock they get in but they need to know when there is a problem.
Hope you can get the piece out of the crank without too much hassle.

AMK is not perfect. I've tried to correct a few mistakes in their Chevelle fastener groupings, but they did not take my advice. I supplied photos as well. Overall their products are very good, but they are not 100%.

Judging from what you said, I don't think I'd use their products on a fastener as critical as the harmonic balancer.

I like the AMK stuff for the visual areas but prefer the ARP stuff where strength is needed. Even if the crank shaft bolt torqued correctly I personally would always wonder if it was truly as strong as an ARP bolt. Hope the broken bolt comes out easily for you.

Thanks for the comments. I decided to go with a new high quality bolt i can count on. I got the bolt out with a left hand drill bit. But i did not like taking things apart, moving forward on a project is much more rewarding.
