When they abruptly cancelled putting that L-78 engine into the early 1970 Chevelles,(due to the the LS-6 debuting),they probably banked a fair amount of those early 854 4-bolt main blocks,so turned to the new Camaro,(and Nova), to eat up the remaining. |

If the seller knows the former owners of the eBay L78. Maybe Mr Jacobs could of been a past owner or know of the owner. Maybe if you ever get the vin pictures on your block some day please post them up here or the orphaned section of Nasty28.com. there are a few owners all over the country looking for they're missing motors. Also the cast date does put it as a late build for a 70 camaro L78.

Chuck depends on the buyer. If it's a nova L78 you may get $2500 or more being from a nova. A camaro owner maybe less since it is from a nova.just my opinion here only.

I know a couple L-78 Chevelle owners who might be interested in that block Chuck S.

I have a feeling that’s the engine for the car. Reminds me of the 67 z motor that was in the t-bucket.

I have a strange feeling to it is the motor too. Last time I had one of those feelings is with the green L78 Chuck posted pictures of. Mike Steitz L78. I am friends with Mike. He runs the 70 L78 registry on Nasty28.com. His car and my L78 were both from the boulder Colorado area. It turned out that Both our cars were both sold at Russ Lyons Chevrolet in Boulder. Mine probably 1st being a 03C car and his Later 05C car.

If you get a chance, try using some old school chalk on the rough casting area, carefully wipe off the excess chalk, then take a pic with ambient light and no flash, and the same, with the flash. Trick JM taught me. Works in a lot of cases where you can get most if not all of the vin off the rough casting.
