Default Pavilions Cruise 3/24/2018

When we pulled into the lot this morning, we were greeted with a lot full of Oldsmobiles. Certainly not a bad thing, so the Desert DerelictSS had to improvise. We parked in the very first row, next to the drive-through lane. It's not exactly the best area to park, but at least we were on the lot. But as we later found out, we were parked in "the Volkswagen area". Seems those guys need to learn to improvise.

Today's improvisers were John W, Toby S, Bob A, Lee, Chris P, Dennis B, Dennis and Laura, Sizzler Wayne, Jay, Bruce, Holly, Lynn, Shaun P, Paul, Mike G, Stan H, Terry, and Larry. Sorry if I forgot anyone.

Since it was Oldsmobile day, most of my photos are Oldsmobiles. There is no particular order, I just shot them as I encountered them.

Sad as it may seem, there are always troublemakers. And, these aren't "Young kids", the troublemaker yesterday was at least 65-and should have known better.

The McDonalds folks handled it well-and troublemaker looked foolish in front of about 50 people...LOL!

Great pics, Rick!!

It's kind of gotten out of control lately. There are A LOT that don't want to improvise and try to get you to move. I had a run in with someone several weeks back that didn't even ask politely, just rude right off the bat and tried to tell me I was illegally parked.
Really? LOL I told the old fart that if he wanted to bring legalities into the mix we could bring up the fact that he put a sign out after I parked and that's called entrapment He didn't like that response.

Then there are the "stick a tiny cone in the way and save a spot" type of crowd. That never used to go on either but that's now gotten out of control. I've just been moving the cones. It's not right when someone is there and has to drive around for 20 minutes and can't park because someone else can't show up in a timely manor and has someone else stick a cone out for them. 2 weeks ago I moved a cone for a poor soul that idled past me 4 times. Don't care what anyone thought. That nonsense needs to stop too.

I'm frankly getting tired of the whole deal. Anymore I park where I want regardless and pay no attention to those that whine. I drive 2 hours to get there and I arrive early to hopefully increase my chance of a place to park, so I don't tolerate the late arrivals that whine anymore. If I can do it so can they, especially since most drive 20 minutes tops. It's just a cruise for cripes sake. We aren't paying for a parking spot.
Okay done ranting

For what it's worth, that Olds show was supposed to be over by 1pm so they shouldn't have had anything roped off after that. Great pics by the way.

Pavilions rules are clearly posted for all to read on the side of the building near the drive thru. These have been the rules for as long as I have been going there (2004?).

For instance, up until 4pm (I think it doesn't apply during auction weeks) you can park-and save a spot on either side of your legally parked car. The folks I hang with primarily...get to the cruise between 8:15-8:30 am, as it's "first come, first saved" up until 4pm. We all park and sit together. There are days when we can't-and it's no biggie.

There are only two rows that are off limits to most folks. First is Corvette row-only Corvettes (any year is okay in this row) can park there. The second row is the row behind that, which is club row-which rotates every week to a different manufacturer. One weekend it's Oldsmobiles, the next Mopar, etc. This coming weekend it's Desert Derelicts turn-as Rick noted above.

Some of the other cruises (67th Ave for example in Peoria) allows folks to save unlimited spots and there is no time limit as far as I know. Rick may have a better idea-as I don't often go this this cruise, even though it's only 5 minutes from my house.

I'm aware of the rules and the club row stuff, I've been attending since 2005. Unfortunately these shenanigans are going on well past 4pm now. It was nearing 6pm when there were cones in front of spots. I took it upon myself to move it so someone could park. If you think I sound bad, you should hear what some of the group at 67th and Bell say about the Pavilions, lol. I think CC Riders signature location of Spoiled Bratsville sums up the general thought from most I've talked to. I attend 67th somewhat frequently ever since Nancy started it, as I have friends not far at 67th and Happy Valley, and we've never had an issue with parking, knock on wood.

Doesn't matter to me which one I go to since I simply go East or West when I hit town. I still enjoy the Pavilions and love to attend. I just hope this stuff doesn't go too far to the point the longest running cruise is no more. They have a great thing going that we all enjoy, would hate to see it ruined.
