Default 73 Z28/Lt camaro prices

Can someone tell what are the values of 73 Z28/Lt are selling for. This is a project car, probably a #3. It need total restoration, it is complete numbers matching. Needs quarters, fenders, some floors and trunk patching. And front areas of the rear frame need attention also. It is code 26 dark blue, but no stripe code after Z28. Could you get a Z28 minus the stripes? The owner said no stripes do to the LT option. Thanks,Roger

Yes, you could get a Z28 with stripe delete in 73. As far as the value, it is hard to say without seeing pictures of the car. The 73's are on the lower end of the "Value" scale due to the lower HP engine etc. I have a 72Z, and it is not worth nearly as much as a 70 or 71 at this time. Based on what you have posted about the car, it sounds like it needs lots of work, and lots of $$$$ to get it done. I have always gone by the rule of not investing more into a resto project than the car is going to be worth when it's finished. I'm sure the value of the 73 Z28's will rise, but not at an alarming rate. What is the asking price for the car? Based on that, you may get some better feedback.

BTW, that car (4400 mile Z28)was only certified in 3 out of 5 areas and received our Legacy Award. The engine and underbody had been restored. To receive our top level Legend Award all 5 areas would need to qualify and achieve a cumulative score of 90 or better.

What scale you using to judge the car? 1-3?, 1-5?, 1-10?

The areas you mentioned and the frame rails being the toughest, will cost a small fortune to repair. When I look at a project car the first thing I look at are the framerails. If they rusted out I pass on the car. They are very tough to replace and not cheap.

In my opinion the car will sell very cheap for the reasons mentioned. It's a shame really because these cars are getting popular.

They did! Here is mine. Dark blue no stripes, automatic and no gauges to boot. Sold the car back in 1999. 21K Original miles.

He wants $3000, but i think he would take less. The frame rail issue on this car is cosmetic at this time. Where the frame curves down in front, and floors are rock solid around the frame. Not anywhere near ones that i have seen the spring come through the rear floor pan. I think the frames in the rear where same up to 81 correct? Not a big deal to find a donor car at a yard and cut a section. I use the scale 1-5. 1 is a new car, or restored to gold standards and 5 is strictly a parts car at best. Roger

For 3k, I would give it a shot. If he may take less, give it a try. I picked up a 73 Z28/RS that was in similar condition about 5 years ago, and paid 2k for it. The one that I bought did come with some NOS parts as well.
