Default Nice ZL1 Camaro restoration site

http://www.69zl1.com/

Site already seen by many people here but I thought I would post the page anyway.
Lots of neat documents and before restoration pictures. Cool site...

It looks just a little more glossy than DP-90, its not too hard to make. Micky

Micky and others........Do you have a way to "brighten" the DP-90 or I then used PPG Acylic Enamel Gloss black and added a flatner to retard the gloss and a hardner for durability........You professionals have the expereince......just curious if in fact you cover the DP with something else???

I havent worked with the LF that much yet, just starting to use it actually, but there are a few ways to change it by the amount of activator, different activator, retarder, pigment, etc. The only drawback to DP is the color itself, usually has a brownish hue to it straight out of the can, but it can be worked with to change that too. As a rule I dont use it for underhood stuff, mostly chassis parts and floorpans (depending on the car), how it was supposed to be, otherwise it is other blacks that we make.

I recently emailed the owner of the car and he said as soon as the car is done he'll post more pictures of it. I emailed him to find the gloss of black he used on the bottom of the car but he forwarded me to the resto shop and I haven't received a reply. Anyone out there know the proper gloss of black for the bottom of a 69 camaro?

I contacted C&V Restorations who did the ZL-1 about the color of the floor pans and he emailed me back with this reply, "We use Spies Hecker paint and the black is a high solid single stage that we put a flattening agent in, its roughly 50% semi gloss, we mix it 1 to 1 on the firewall, floor pans and sub frame. The inner fenders and heater box cover are about 30% gloss, slightly glossier then the rest of the area's that are black."

30% gloss is glossier than 50% semi gloss?

He just give out percentages opposite of most everyone is all. If you want to do it just mix some paint and match it to the degree of gloss you like to use. Everybody has there own way of doing it.
