Bit more info:
Made 626 with the Hp1000 at 5000 all the way to 7300? Just stayed with 10Hp, YET CFM consumption went up like 130, vac dropped to 1.1?? So how many have seen a dyno keep about the same Hp #'s over 2300 RPM?? Yet our CFM went up 130 CFM. This is where we think the dyno was having an issue.

Design of engine Hp should peak at 7000, tq about 5500.

We are looking at the 5000 RPM numbers to get an indication of where we are as well as the weather station info. Air in the room was 3660 ft elevation and 87 deg F when we made the pulls.

All indications are putting this in the 780Hp range TILL we get the bigger carb on it, or EFI. Looking at another high end chassis dyno in the fall to get this resolved.

all expectations was low 800Hp what we were hoping for.

Because HP is a function of Torque and RPM - if the torque falls off at the same rate as the RPM increases then the HP will be flat.
Obviously no reason to keep twisting it if the Torque is falling off and the HP is flat - unless the shifts would drop the RPM's out of the fat part of the curve.

OK, IF that were true, HOW could the engine consume another 130+CFM of air, yet not make any more HP? Maxed out 979 CFM and a VE of 116?

Heard yesterday there were NO correction factors used on the dyno either? So that was with a room ambient temp at 92 deg, and elevations at 3500+ ft accourding to 2 different weather stations, dyno operators and our own.

So when these parameters we put into another local dyno shop's dyno info with the correction factors that have been well known to be very true, Hp came out at 776 at 6500RPM! Down a bit as were out of carb. should peak right about 7-7100 Rpm.

you are consuming more air because it is actually pumping more air IT has to pump more air as the RPM increases.

What are the flow rates on the intake and exhaust using a Flow bench?
say at .200 - .400 - .600?

First gen, you right, these are just big air pumps really. BUT how can a PORTED sq port, BBc with 13-1 comp, 715 lift cam, 2.25 valve and 475 inches make &quot;about&quot; what a 1969 L-88 make with headers and a cam swap? Yet max out a Holley Hp1000 carb by 6600 RPM? Yet the other motor, with far less work and parts, made well over 700Hp

Yes these heads are BETTER than BB2 PLUS with CNC option!

Those are THRU &quot;198&quot; intake with no pipe on exh port on Superflow SF-600 bench with a 4.350 fixture. We're &quot;trying&quot; something far different with these heads then what is considered normal! I would never have put the $$$ into these heads if it wasn't for the shop going good for ALL labour on this engine, I wouldn't have done it.

Well, finally got it to a better dyno and with some better data. But I think we're at THE LIMITS of the block? Were down a bit of power! But all in all, I'm pretty satisfied with the results

Scott, at this time, I wouldn't want people to know where this came from for other issue right now. PLUS the machinist moved to Florida about a month ago. So I'm looking around too.
