Barrett Jackson Palm Beach 2018
Anyone there or watching?
I just saw part of a 1967 Camaro last night that looked decent from the front go for what seemed like reasonable money, but I thought maybe it had the 1969 stripes that come down the hood and down the front fenders. Curious if anyone saw it and whether it was as nice as it looked.

The big take away for me was the horsepower battle out on the hot lap area where Ford, Chrysler and Chevy battled it out for hearts and minds.
On the track one thing became quickly apparent. The Z06 Corvette completely and thoroughly trounced everything everybody else brought to the party. The Z06 was always faster into the apex and out again and looked like a race car on rails in every respect. By comparison to try to keep it close the Mustang's had to drift through the curve under power-which created plumes of tire smoke and cringe worthy spectator views as several cars were close to being sideways exiting the turn causing people in line to be on the look out for the potential of a spin out. Finally both the Demons and Hell Cats could not approach the apex at anything close to the speed of the Corvette due to obvious design and engineering differences, and then upon exit from the curve made huge plumes of tire smoke which put on a great show for everyone. I asked why not a ZL-1 1LE? "no real reason we just had corvettes on hand" Indeed at the Nürburgring Nordschleife the Z06 and the 2018 Camaro ZL1/1LE ran very close to the same ring times coming in with only a three second difference which was within the range of driving skill given two separate drivers were employed for testing. |
