The trim tag looks original to me compared with other Janesville tags, however I'm pretty sure it was off during paint. I'm not crazy about the engine pad stamp, though it would be difficult make a proper judgement with such a bad picture. However, note the protecto plate imprint on the owners manual. It appears to show an IS engine suffix. While that's not conclusive that the current engine isn't the original, it is definitely worth checking into.

Tag looks good to me, but I was also concerned about the rivets.

Good catch on that IS from the protecto plate print not matching the current block IJ code. Someone had to physically read the real block code and its assembly date to put that on the protecto plate so I think it had to be a real IS car.
I imagine the auto trans has a VIN stamp, wonder how far off that would look when compared to the block's stamp....no pics of that though... |

What I meant was the engine stamping. I don't know enough about 67 impala tags

Any seller not willing to do whatever is necessary to supply requested info has something to hide. IMO

FYI Not all rivets were punched all the way through. Spread out yes. |

Not arguing. Just asking. How would the back side get spread out without punching it through?

Here is an original trim tag on a totally unmolested car I found on FB showing original rivets without any of the sealer in the rivet heads. You can even see the ghost image of masking tape that was used to hang the buildsheet off the cowl during assembly. You can clearly see how these looked when installed for anyone wanting to make a comparison. These are slightly different than the reproduction rivets sold today.
