Even the old world experts used to tell me the Olds 400's in my '69 and '70 442's couldn't be original engines..."so you own one but don't even know they came with them special 442 CID motors?" Never any sense explaining the 442 meanings through the years to these fellas either or getting into the Chevy/B-O-P engines and 454/455 thing...or Canadian Pontiacs etc, etc... Several years back I had my Black 69 Camaro SS L78 4 speed car at a local Sunday afternoon gathering. As I opened the hood up the pillsbury doughboy with his greasy blond hair pulled back in a pony tail, asks me who put "that thar" smog pump on this car ? I told him I bought the car that way so he would leave me alone.

As long as we are talking about the low information crowd, This actually happened: A 'B' body mopar had an early (392) Hemi shoehorned in it's engine bay at a local show. Looked pretty good. The car had a BDS scoop for an air cleaner, similar to the one pictured. I overheard a fella telling his friend, while pointing at the scoop, "See, that is the engine size, 805." 8=B,0=D,5=S, No kidding! I started following this guy to see what other 'pearls of wisdom' he had, and he had plenty! That one is the only one I can remember though.
