About 70 chevelle steering wheel
I was curious to know if all the basic steering wheels had the pebble grain on rim? I saw a supposed low mile car and the wheel was shiny and smooth no grain on rim of steering wheel so I figured that miles claimed is way off. Any advise appreciated.

Early '69 production I believe is most common for the texture there, then it soon transitioned into the smooth grip.
Wear can take a toll and make the grain wear down,so you have to look close to see it sometimes. Both were possible during '69. By 1970,smooth grip design was all across the board I believe. I've yet to see a 1970 car installed with a '69 textured rim as I call it. |

In 69, it wasn't an early vs late thing - they are intermixed.
http://www.camaros.org/swheel.shtml#69 I've seen the print - it called for texture IIRC.

I bought a super mint steering wheel off of a one owner 69ss elcomino a couple years ago and a friend was over and told me it was an aftermarket wheel because there was no grain. So I called the guy back and he told me it came on his car when he bought it new!
