Default 1969 Nova L78 with M22 Muncie

Ran across a bargain Friday night with a guy that had 2 complete Muncie 4-speeds, but they were in pieces (Basket Cases). I bought both of them as a package deal. Throughout conversation, this guy had numerous Chevelles, GTO's, and Camaros sitting out back. He asked what I had. I said ive got an original 1969 Nova SS, L78, Fathom Green, Black Vinyl Top, 12 Bolt 3:55 Posi, with an M22 Muncie Rockcrusher. He says, they never made such thing. I said, excuse me? But yes they did. He says, no they didnt. They never made a 69 Big Block Nova with a M22! I said well, im not sure where you got your info from, but the number on the Transmission is a genuine stamp of P9A**C and it also has a vin stamp of 19W*****. I said, there were several 69's built with an M22. He swears there werent, that they only built 69 Novas with an M20 Muncie. I beg to differ. Whats everyone elses input on this?

Post m22

You are correct...there were 682 M-22 equipped 1969 Novas. This tranny was only available in the Nova for 1968 and 1969.

So, you can politely tell this person, while it is a rare option, it was available.

Sorry Rick, I meant the guy that was adamant that they never installed an M22 in the Nova...

No worries Rich, I knew exactly what you meant. I was only pointing out that I know just enough about Novas to get me in trouble but even I knew that.

Thanks everyone for the info and input. I was certain about this, but i have no proof or documentation to back my knowledge, other than the Muncie thats in my car. Thanks again Wilma and everyone. I appreciate the info and support. Heres a snapshot of my M22 stampings.
