One of the best tire smokers out there. Friend has a 70 SJ 4 speed car with air. So much front end weight transfer is non existent. Lots of 455 torque. I think the car was designed by Firestone or Goodyear to sell back tires. Engine is great to work on. Take the fan and shroud out and put in a lawn chair to work on the engine. Cam changes without pulling the radiator!

If your buddy doesn't buy it, please tell me where it is as I'll buy it. Love these cars myself.

A great buy at that price point. Nice enough to enjoy but not too nice to worry about. Base motor was a YS code 400-350hp (Same as GTO I my memory serves me correctly.) Great interiors and a nice road car. Years ago found a '69 SJ 428 non HO car with a TH400 and 3.23 Safe-T-Track. Bone stock and a very hard running car. Values have been lagging for years but are now starting to rise as they should.

This thread is getting me excited. I've wanted one of these cars since I was a teenager back in the 80's, always loved their looks and the dash even though I've never even ridden in a 69 or 70 GP. Just put a deposit on and 69 SJ without AC yesterday and am looking forward to comparing it to the 71 SS 454 Monte I had in the 90's. Somebodies gotta love the big cars too!

Hello all, sorry for delayed update- Really appreciate the feedback on this car!
Yes, my buddy picked this up and it's been at my house ever since- way nicer than we thought it was going to be, he actually got a better price on it as well. I ended up going in half on the car, as the deal was getting a little weird. (more below) The car had been sitting since demise of owner, we were dealing with surviving spouse, there was another woman involved and lucky for us just being in right place/time to keep this car in hands of a car enthusiast. I've been detailing it and tinkering on it the last week or so- really getting attached to it, but it may be short-lived.
My buddy & I are working out a trade deal on a great project car, more details to follow.
The car will end up in the hands of a big Pontiac fan, and we'll pass on our good fortune as we work out the numbers. (at least he'll take it with full disclosures on good/bad, where we had to buy it cash upfront- THEN drive 20 miles to where car was last parked in front of vacant house. We kept thinking- what if car was gone when we arrived??. I said if that happens, you'll be glad you have a partner on this deal!)
Thanks for the support- will post a few pics tonight and excited to share the new project with you all on here if deal comes together- will need to draw on the collective expertise on here for sure!
Jerry
