Default 1999 Chevrolet Hodges Car Hauler

I am putting this truck up for sale because I just can't justify having it for no more than I use it. Most of my trips I use the enclosed trailer but for those times you can haul in the open there is nothing like it. It is set up to tow a trailer also and it handles both just fine. The rear gears are 3:73 and the truck will get an honest 12.5 mpg with a car on its back and 9 mpg when hauling and towing a car. It has 161K miles. Runs great and doesn't use any oil. I bought the truck out of Leavenworth Kansas 5 or 6 years ago. The truck needs nothing. I have watched these trucks for years and it is very rare that I find clean examples for sale. Most are worn out out, rusted out, beat to hell trucks that have been around the world by dealers that have all the ad on that just ruin them. $17,000

Thanks guys, I had the entire bed of this truck sand blasted and repainted about 4 yrs ago. It wasn't that bad but with normal use they do get scratched up after time.

Mick,

Casually speaking, I've been looking for a hauler myself. While a very clean looking rig I am wondering about the mileage and what has been recently serviced and/or rebuilt. Any suspension work, brakes, trans or engine rebuilds with that kind of mileage? I'm assuming it's a 454 and would like to know if it has an Allison trans behind it also? How about the A/C too?

Thanks...Graeme

The trans. would be a 4L80E.

Yes correct on the trans, also 454, the rear brakes were replaced a yr ago, as far as I know the motor has never been apart. I bought the truck from the second owner but I did sell the truck about 3 or 4 yrs ago and just got it back last year. Oil is changed regularly and I don't think I have ever added oil between changes but if I did it hasn't been more than a quart. The AC works, there has been no suspension work, and the power brakes hydro boost was replaced last year.
