NCRS validation of a reproduction document:
Scrolling through this website and looking at pics of this 1967 Corvette and came upon the NCRS validation of the window sticker and tank sticker. The window sticker is a reproduction document and should not have been validated: An excerpt from the ad: "Original NCRS validated Window sticker- Thinking about how special this is due to the fact that this piece of paper was adhered to the inside of the drivers window with water soluble adhesive. The dealer was mandated by Federal law to leave it on the car and not remove it. That meant the new owner either tore it off upon leaving the dealer as it obstructed the view or in the case of this car it was carefully removed by the original owner and securely stored. It has been authenticated by the NCRS as the genuine article"

Thanks for bringing that to light Paul. Hope a prospective buyer reads this. It never ceases to amaze me what people will do to make an extra buck!

Well, the tank sticker is legit and the car probably is also, just don't like the advertising of a reproduction document as legit.........
But in all fairness, if the car is offered for sale by a dealer and the seller offers a document showing the paperwork has been validated by NCRS, why would they or anyone else really dispute that. NCRS, if they are going to validate has to look further than just verifying numbers match their GM records...... Paul

Thank you, Roy. You're correct, this sure is a learning process. It's a shame when one document is legitimate and another is made from the information on the legitimate one.
It's always good to hear from you, Roy. |

Invalidation
I would expect that once this is discovered by the NCRS, a letter would be sent out to the original inquirer invalidating the document so that the reproduction window sticker would not be used to validate the authenticity of the car.
