Default GTO reproduction steering wheel

I am working on a 65 GTO for my Father. He has purchased a repro wood wheel for the car from a popular Pontiac supplier. This thing is kickin my a$$. After measuring, it seems the spline of the steering column is about .010 larger than the hub of the repro wheel.

Question 1. Have any of you experienced this before?

Question 2. If so, what did you do?

Thanks,

Tim
