Default NEED or WTB: 69 Camaro L-78 FACT sheet, part #'s

I am interested in buying a "REAL" factory original 69 Camaro L-78. Does anybody have a specific LIST of casting #'s, part #'s, tach specs, fuel line specs, etc etc.....You know all the do and donts of certifying the REAL from the CLONE.....I understand GOOD restamped clones are out there, but I still would like to borrow or pay for a COMPLETE shoppers guide to this option........to weed through most of the B.S. being advertised. One specific car I have started talking with seller about doesnt have any POP or Build Sheet.
Thanks so much, Chuck Sharin

Chuck,

The best way to guarantee you are getting a REAL one is to concentrate on one with paperwork and a continuous trail of ownership all the way back. Sounds like the one you are looking at may have neither. The guys making the clones are getting better at their deception all the time. Take your time, educate yourself and wait for the right car.

I would recommend the 1969 Z28/SS book advertised here:

a very good resource

As the guys said, get educated on this particular car and option. It is not something you can do in an evening - it takes a great deal of studying, many sources (books, original unrestored cars, old 60's magazine articles) to really KNOW a particular model.

I don't think you'll find a "fact" sheet as it would also be a "fake" sheet. The phony builders know all of the common (and much detail) stuff anyway. If you are going to run down a list and check it off as you look at the car, you'll be easily fooled. Can you detect an altered casting number? Restamped numbers on factory-style broach marks? Repro BB heater box vs. original?

Get educated or hire an expert. And I agree, good paper is a plus - but not a blanket endorsement. Good luck.
