1967 Impala SS 396 4 speed; need your input
2 owner car, needs some minor cosmetics and light interior work, runs well, original numbers matching driveline, could use updating and a few things, overall a strong #3 car. I know this is not an impala board but would appreciate your thoughts on value. Owner wants $10k for it and I would get it and freshen it up but no means looking to do a frame off on it. what do you think the upside is, do you see these cars coming into favor? I love the fact that it is a 4sp BB car but not sure if I am the only one to feel that way. Talked to a couple of people and they think $10k is top$ but curious to hear from you guys.
thank you, Scott |

Re: 1967 Impala SS 396 4 speed; need your input
I agree to a point thugh I would hate to overpay for a car, I do like to get into them for market or below if possible. I have found that I am happy when I am not upside down in a vehicle. The car is a base model, 12 bolt, no ps, no pb, built to go fast. It is just getting hard to know what market is with the prices on ebay, BJ, and others flucuating so much.
do you know if there is an impala board or good source for info, I thought there was a full size chevy group out there. |

Re: 1967 Impala SS 396 4 speed; need your input
Hi Scott, definetly a nice car and some what rare being a 4SPD. I own a few 67's. 10K is about top dollar for a car that needs some work. Maybe even a litte high in my opinion. These 67 fullsize cars are becoming more desirable every year. Is the car complete, does it have the rocker moldings still on the car??? 4 pieces. What colors is the car?? Finding exterior trim pieces for the car is somewhat tough and very expensive. not much repop'd for these cars so NOS is the only way to go. Any rust??? What options does the car have?? 2qwik2c.

Re: 1967 Impala SS 396 4 speed; need your input
speaking with the owner again tomorrow to get more detail, talked to him today, he has had the car for seven years, second owner but no paperwork. claims he verified originality when he bought it. what are the best ways to verify SS pedigree? I have a camaro ss with all supporting paperwork which makes it easy though want to make sure I do homework to make sure it is real deal.
Car is complete, running and missing nothing. paint is strong but could use a re-do, needs headline, and some lite interior work, nothing major. all trim in tact. thanks, scott. |

Re: 1967 Impala SS 396 4 speed; need your input
You can check out impalass427.com or chevytalk.com. If it requires nothing major and EVERYTING is there then 10K might not be to bad of a price. On a lot of 67 Impala SS cars you see the rocker moldings missing. To replace those is very very hard. Nos sets if found sell for $2000.00 +. 2qwik2c.

The car is not a base model if its a trus ss396 with a 4 speed. worth every penny in my book.

Re: 1967 Impala SS 396 4 speed; need your input
See if owner will send you some pics and then you can post them here for all of us to see.... if it's the real deal, price seems ok to me. I know a lot of Impala owners and my favorite is the 67 fast back Impala SS. I'm looking very forward to seeing Jody Schmeisser's pair of 66 427 Impalas this weekend at Chevy Vettefest.....

Re: 1967 Impala SS 396 4 speed; need your input
In 1967, an Impala SS could be had with a 6 cylinder, 327, 396, or 427.
The Impala SS427 was a separate model with a different hood and other items. The value of this particular car would depend on which 396 it had. The low HP version in a fairly stripped car with a 4spd might not be very exciting. There are some fairly knowledgable guys on the ImpalaSS427forum that could help you decode the trimtag and give you an idea about value. $10,000 sounds pretty high with all it needs, but that's my opinion. There's a 69SS427 Convertible here in Alberta with the wrong motor for about that money. It has a 454 in it. |

As a good friend of ours says..."Scoop It"
Seems like a no brainer....to me. Dan.
