Re: Old Street Scenes
Some of the pictures are being linked from websites that don't allow hot linking...so you see an "X"
I am assuming that blogspot doesn't allow linking... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8SAWKBxMH2s/Sl...xCompressed.jpg

[ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Where was this taken? [/ QUOTE ] [b]A couple of people also e-mailed me regarding this shot. It is Dan Gurney in the pits at Bridghampton NY, the eventual winner of the Saturday portion of the double 500km races in Sept of '63. - Hansgen in the pits - He was known as "King of the Bridge" but was 3rd today behind Gurney and Miles - in this Team Cunningham Jag. He did win Sundays race in a Team Cunningham Cooper-Buick. - - Gurney, Holbert (Team Cobra), Hansgen and Miles (Team Cobra) down the hill on the first lap of Saturdays race. - - Team Cobra's Ken Miles - - Bob Johnson in a privateer Cobra - - This is Briggs Cunningham taking out the Cooper-Buick to out to warm it up for Walt Hansgen who was late for Friday qualifying - - A shot of Briggs speaking with fellow Jag dealership owner Alfred Momo - - I was also asked about the b/w shot of the Cobra hauler - I do not know where that shot was taken - it may have been in France. Here are a couple more Cobra shots taken at Lake Garnett Raceway (Kansas) on 7-7-63 - - - -

[/ QUOTE ] Boy does that look like Dave MacDonald up on the trailer. He would die the following year at Indy when he spun/crashed the fuel-heavy Mickey Thompson "roller skate" in the opening laps and caused an incredible fire which consumed Indy winner Eddie Sachs as well. |
