Re: Super rare Hurst Ram 4 Shifter NOS complete
X2.
That's not the only reason the Ram Rod is better. I've never saw or heard of a Ram Rod shifter getting jambed up between gears. Lots of stories about it happening to V-gates though. Very nice piece.

You might as well be looking for a needle in a hay stack.

Re: Super rare Hurst Ram 4 Shifter NOS complete
I think I would use a nos super boot and poke a hole for the reverse if I had to.

Re: Super rare Hurst Ram 4 Shifter NOS complete
LOL...that's exactly what I did in my Chevelle. I'll have to get over to the car and get a picture of it.
I fabbed a bezel out of .065 aluminum to go around the hole I cut. Had to cut into the side of the stainless plate though. And would'nt you know, but 5 to 6 months later I found and bought two nos Ram Rod boots. Re: Super rare Hurst Ram 4 Shifter NOS complete
The history of these "straight-line" shifters is interesting. Mr. Gaskest, who loved to challenge Hurt's dominance in the shifter market, actually introduced their version first and it even won "Best New Product" at the SEMA show that year. About six months later, Hurst released their version of the straight-line shifter. Eventually, Mr. Gasket even purchased Hurst.

Re: Super rare Hurst Ram 4 Shifter NOS complete
I almost forgot to add the picture of my Ram Rod shifter with the modified Super Boot.

Re: Super rare Hurst Ram 4 Shifter NOS complete
It's chrome. When I restore these shifters I always chrome the reverse lever.
