Hypothetical Question

If this were all that remained of a COPO or ZL1 car and the rest was restored using NOS or OE parts, would this still be the original car it started as if all the numbers and vin tag was spared from the original car?

(this is purely hypothetical - I do not have a hook on a ZL1 or COPO)

Regardless of what that car once was, it is too far gone, in my opinion, to ever be considered "original". I also feel that the owner would have to have a real connection to that car to consider rebuilding that carcass.

I don't think so. If the VIN has been deattached from the body, in this case... HELL NO!!
But, it would be accepted buy the seller and buyer. So, that's all that matters.
I don't think I would want the car, not knowing the skill leval and quality under the paint, and panels.
My cars are not in that market,either

If this skeletal remnant had the firewall with cowl tag and hidden vin intact, framerails and other major structual members intact, and just was in need of sheetmetal, it might be a question worth debating. But in its current state, with the firewall, etc. from another vehicle considered for installation, I don't see why it would not fit in to the same category as the #9 car, which has been declared a rebody. If you are saying this remnant was going to have reinstalled the original firewall with hidden vin/cowl tag and that this vehicle started life with it, that would be another matter altogether.

Personally (Just MY opinion) a large portion of a decision by me would be if the original drivetrain were still with the car.

I would consider buying a car that had extensive body panel replacement but still had the original unmolested drivetrain over a car that had a cherry body, but replacement driveline.

Moving just the vin tags to a donor body would be another thing however.

It's just a 307 base car, but I recently found my first car from High School in a junk yard post katrina. It had about the same needs for metal replacement as the pic above. But due to the attachment with &quot;that&quot; car, I sent it to The GoodMark Installation Center in Georgia and 22k later had a full body back. It would have been cheaper to just use a dynacorn body, but I wanted as much of My car as possible (and btw, Kurt and the guys did a great job). Story and pic in my sig below.

The answer is simple.....NO, NO and NO!

The only item you have is a GM interior skeleton of a Camaro. I do not care what type of car (options, etc.) this came out of, in fact it has no bearing. It was removed for one reason.....and let me tell you why.
Because the originating Camaro is gone. It does not matter why.....all what counts is that it is gone!

This is a touchy subject BUT very dear to my heart, because it represents who I am and what I believe in.

As far as I am concerned, this is a black and white question.
