1969 302 block pad
This pad looks inconsistent compared to others. The zero looks different, what do you think?

Multiple differences from the originals I have documented in that time period.

Thanks, guy wants to do some car swapping and I wanted to make sure it was a matching numbers block as he told me. The painted pad is the one he wants to trade in. Seems I can also see an angle in the pad, red flag for me. I'll tell him I have to pass. Unless you say it's legit. Thanks for the help!

Doesn't look anywhere close to my old V0409DZ.

Just to clarify, 'matching numbers' and 'original engines' are totally different things. Welcome here and best of luck w/ your quest! ~ Pete .

I'm still trying to figure out how to break the news to him, I don't want to say "restamp", so I'm thinking "inconsistent with other known examples". Thanks again for the input! |

The V408DZ is a restamp
The V0927DZ (?) under the paint looks more encouraging

ok, well I'll wait I bit till I pass judgment. The V0927DZ is the one I hope is the honest DZ block, that's the one he wants to swap. Thanks!

He sold the Z with V0927DZ. I was having reservations as I was not sure if the date stamp was consistent with other known dates. Thanks for the input!
