Started my spring cleaning today. Attached is a local car, sold new at Jack Maxton Chevrolet. Won Best Of Show at the 1995 Len Immke Classic here in Columbus. Has been in the owners garage unseen since about '98. This car has been through about 7 owners, and back in the day was known on the streets as "King Kong". Automatic with column shifter, spoiler was added by the original owner after he bought the car. Almost as nice as the feature of the month.

No, mine was sold by Berger, was originally LeMans blue, and no way in he$$ would win best of show, unless it was the only car entered.

Frank,

-----I dont know how many guys can say they had one of those Doodlebugs back in the day but I did! My dad had a red Cushman "Eagle and he got me a red Doodlebug. I dont think it was new and I have absolutely no idea what happened to it. We must have looked goofier than hell riding around together. Yours is the nicest I have ever seen by far. Where could a guy find one of those bad-boys? I think Id like to find another one..............Bill S

Bob,

It's a '47 Hiawatha "Doodle Bug". Built by Beam Manufacturing in Webster City, IA. They made them in standard and super models with Briggs or Clinton 1.5 hp engines. This one is a standard with a Briggs. I brought it home in a box full of rusty junk, it was OK though 'cause I told Barb it was her Valentines present. I guess that means its hers. The coolest thing is on the standard, the throttle and brake are on one lever. Squeeze for brake and let it go for full throttle. OSHA and lawyers love it. They bring $3 to 5 grand restored.
