Default John Schroeder's 67 Nickey SS 427 Camaro

In the January 1997 issue of Super Chevy there is a color centerspread of a 67 Camaro SS owned by John Schroeder from Connecticut. It is Deepwater Blue with a white stripe and a white vinyl top. It has a black interior with a console. It has a L72 with a TH400. The engine block and heads are painted yellow and it has Nickey decals and emblems on it. In the story it says the original owner went to Chicago and bought the car with a Nickey installed L72 and all the drag strip goodies. He then took the car back to Connecticut and raced it until the early '70's. It was owned by Paul Liseo from '76 to '90 when John Schroeder bought it and restored it. It says he bought it less an engine, transmission and interior for $500.00. The story makes no mention of any documentation. Does anybody know if this was a real Nickey L72 conversion car? I'm assuming it was originally an L35 car before being converted.
