Seeking original style underlayment - '73 Camaro
Hey gang,
I am looking for a source (hopefully precut to fit) for the original very heavy thick style tan paper-faced (maybe it's sort of cloth faced?) tar type of carpet underlayment or sound deadener for my 1973 Camaro. Please see pic as an example. Haven't had much luck in surfing all the typical suppliers websites, or Ebay, or forums. Some of the suppliers describe what sounds right, but the pictures don't look like it. Not interested in the cheesy lightweight sandy roof felt type of stuff that almost everyone supplies. Also would rather not use the paper-faced rubber type of sound deadener that I have seen, but it seems better then the thin asphalt stuff. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Charlie

How thick is it?
I need the same, for a 73 RSLTZ... The top sheet is nothing more than unbleached natural kraft, I doubt it even has wet-strength added, seeing as it has asphalt basically poured on the back that would act as a waterproofing. Does the other side have jute on it like the 67-69 Camaro? I do not have any left from the car I am restoring right now, it was discarded prior to my participation in the project.
