Yes they have ZL2, but not the hole over fuse box.
They have the hole in the Center of the Firewall |

It has 427 m written in the Fender extensions and 9737 in the Tunnel
I have cleaned the firewall of Paint today and there are some interesting things written there. |

Looks like N587056 is missing all the ZL2 wiring, missing the relay, no grommet/wiring to the switch in the hood, etc. Not the best example of a ZL2 equipped car.
I've never seen a factory ZL2 equipped car without the wiring hole pierced above the main wiring hardness hole in the firewall, including the 50 Jan. '69 built Yenko Camaros. |

Don't give up. Just being objective. A COPO car is hard enough to prove as it is, and if it is a true real early COPO like you believe, you should stake your claim. I did see the M on the lower fender extension, but could not see the 427 markings. It could have been this for all we know. And honestly, the markings on the cowl weren't all that clear. If you cleaned it up and you can read it better, post up the photos.

Here are pics before and after spraying Boeshield on the crayon marking of the Blue RS ZL1. You might do something similar.

Aaah -- the secret is out ... in my USAF days we had Boeshield T-9 on benchstock. That stuff can be used for so many different things. I've used it to preserve alum moldings after stripping and repolishing them. I think it was originally used for preventing corrosion on alum surfaces. TAZ
