Anybody Recall This Canadian L79 Nova SS
Does anybody recall a Canadian built 1966 L79 Nova SS in rare Plum Mist Metallic (P code)? Plum Mist was a Canada only color in 1966. In Chevy IIs and Acadians, it was the only color reserved for SS and SD models and came exclusively with a black interior.
This L79 Nova SS was built near the end of production on June 30, 1966 and shipped July 8th to Mander Chevrolet in North Vancouver B.C. In fact, another L79 Nova SS in Regal Red was shipped to Mander on the same day and probably arrived on the same truck. Many a GM muscle car came from Mander after being test driven on their 'test strip' in the back alley behind the dealership. This Plum Mist L79 had engine suffix F0610ZI, one of seven L79s built at Oshawa on June 30, 1966 with this code. It was an M20 four speed with F40 HD suspension, G80 positraction, J50 PB with J65 metallic facings, T11 8PR whitewalls, D99 C pillar trim, T60 HD battery and V74 flashers. In total, fewer than 300 Chevy II and Acadian L79s were built in Canada in 1966. I don't know of any still existing that are Plum Mist. If anybody knows anything about this car, or any other P code L79 SS or SD, I would appreciate hearing from you. Bob

Mander sold out to Dick Irwin in 69, and I worked there in the 70's. I still have friends from North Vancouver, and I'll ask them what they know. L79 Novas were really quick street cars back then, so it should stick out in someones memory.
