426 Hemi exhaust manifolds
Hello,
I'm getting ready to install a set of exhaust manifolds on a 426 Hemi. (taken many off, however never put any on!) I know on my corvette with manifolds I didn't use gaskets (deduct for NCRS). I have a set of gaskets, however wondering if using sealant like on the 327 will be adequate? Both surfaces are cast iron, and flat. Thanks for your input! |

I always used gaskets on my hemis. Sealant wouldn't hurt. Make sure you have the correct conical washers and bolts. The convex side faces the cylinder head. The conical washers allow all that cast iron to expand and contract more easily otherwise the manifold can crack and leak because it can't expand adequately to match the mating surface.
