Default deck lid seam sealer

Did the factory apply seam sealer all the way around the inside seam on the inside of deck lid? Was it put on with a gun or with finger? Then just painted over? Thanks

Default Re: deck lid seam sealer

I do know that '70 Camaros did. I'm trying to prepare for the best method of doing this, as well as for other areas of the cars that were also sealed. From my understanding, they used a pressurized gun feeding sealer from a drum supply. The gun had a brush attachment that allowed the worker to "smooth out" the sealer as he/she applied it in order to fill in the crevices and gaps and get proper coverage. 3M and a company called Lord sells material, guns, etc.
