I have a friend that had a 69 almost identical to Mike's and it was ordered in the fall of 1968 and it had a -- pnt tag and he was able to get a copy of the dealer's invoice and it showed it as special paint and I believe that the cost was about $35.00.

Not to deviate from the thread about Mike, but since odd colors are being discussed, there is/was a Butternut Z/28 offered on eBay recently. I passed on a Butternut convertible a few months ago, mainly because of the Butternut Yellow; it is just so bland. I can see why not many models in that color. Also, pertaining to rare colors, my '69 Camaro started life as a 53 50 Two Tone Dover White/Glacier Blue X22. And, way back as a teenager, my first '69 Camaro was Azure Turquoise with a black top/interior/hockey stick.

Agreed...

While I do love the Black and Blue cars, that right there has to be one of my favorite colors on a 69 car. Super clean car!!!

Great article!

BTW. Palomino Ivory was a pretty rare color in 1968. I believe .6% of Camaros had that color.

Default Cool car guy story

So several weeks ago and after the article on the Black car was out a fellow 69 and 70 Camaro owner in Fairborn Ohio reaches out by phone to talk about my car after finding out it came from Lang's Chevrolet in Fairborn.
After a nice talk he had a later style black plastic license plate frame he wanted to send me and I graciously accepted. I also ask him if Lang's ever used a metal plate frame .
He also mentioned he knew twin brothers that were salesman at Lang's back in 1969.
After our initial conversation he reached out to one of the brothers and ask about the frame, and he said, I just might have one of those.
And now you know the rest of the story, and how a never before mounted, totally mint metal license plate frame from Lang's found it's way to Black Beauty, and at no charge !! He did not even want $ for the postage. I did send him one of my restored gas caps and hope it goes to one of his Camaros.
And FYI there is no makers mark on the back casting.
So how cool is this....
Mike
