Default 1969 SS 350 engine pics?

I'm looking for some pictures of the original L48 non-ac engine bay to use as reference. Things like painted or non-painted oil cap, etc.

Here's what I have. All help is much appreciated!

I believe your oil cap should be unpainted.

I believe oil cap should be painted... Unpainted for chrome or finned covers.

My restoration/paint guy believes the oil cap should be unpainted and chrome to match the chrome air cleaner (bright accents debate). But I believe, and the consensus over at CRG, is that these L48 engines with the non-chrome valve covers came built down the paint line and painted with the oil caps on, then dressed with air cleaners and wires and stickers. I have bet him lunch, if I can prove it...

Anyway - great pics Phil thank you, lots of details to see and very nicely finished. My 350 is actually a 4 speed, but in its very early years the smog equip was removed and the exhaust manifolds were replaced with automatic ones. They are correctly dated originals, just not original to this car sadly. So my air cleaner is correct without the stove pipe. Something I can work on later when I can afford the smog equip.

When you are ready for the smog system, give Bill Hodel a call. He will have everything you need. Call at 330-832-0871...

The part of the spark plug heat shields that attach to the block are painted orange and the more visible parts are left as-is.

Mine came with painted covers, but I added the aluminum covers to it. 4 spd with smog. Pass side smog tube is not correct in these pics. It was a 68 tube.

1968 smog tube on pass side is wrong and technically so are the valve covers.
