Re: GTO Giveaway Car
I'm sure it's just to advertise it and gage interest.850k is kind of silly. And yes Thom McAn is gone. I used to by my PRFC's from them.

Re: GTO Giveaway Car
Anybody know what the highest price paid for a GTO is?
Im not sure but im thinking it was less then $850k. Might have been that low mileage red 70 RAIV Judge vert? I dont think this car qualifys as a all time top dollor GTO. Its rare and seems like a pretty nice resto but... |

[ QUOTE ]
Can anyone speak of the the red inner fenders? not bashing, i'm just trying to gain knowledge of the Ponchos. [/ QUOTE ] Red fenders were a rare option, but included if you got a 400 HO. It is typically the first thing you look for on an HO car. And yes the HO was a hotter version of the 400. As far as price, he's close............to being on crack. John |

Re: GTO Giveaway Car
Red fender liners were never a part for a HO car. Has nothing to do with it. They are a very rare option. Only 1% of GTO'S had them. I do agree on the price. It could have been bought for a little over 100k last fall. I thought that was too much!! GO FIGURE

Re: GTO Giveaway Car
Cool car but the price a faint hope... ???.
And the guy should state 2 'known' existing, not simply 2 existing.. I wonder if anyone up here won one of these from the Canadian division of Tom McCan shoes?. Whatever the guy reaches, it may be worth trying to run the before and after sequential Vins through PHS looking for more?. Lastly, is it truly clear where/when the Hood Tach was installed...could these jackpot cars be the first ever factory installed units?. ~ Pete

Re: GTO Giveaway Car
GTO DON is right on about the liners. Johnny HP is right about the crack!
This is a nice car but I too passed on it last year after doing a little research. It is not a special car other than given away by Thom McAnn - and the big problem there is that they gave away a BUNCH of them. It is not a 1 of 1 car, more like a 1 of 16 as I recall. And just a GTO, not built by Pontiac Engineering or sent to Royal etc. The winners could order their car from any dealer nationwide and order any options they wanted up to a certain maximum msrp. This winner just happened to order a great combo (HO/ 4 speed/ red liners). This dealer (Napoli?) is the same place that bought the nice automatic 69 T/A and Banshee concept car at B-J last year or the year before and has advertsied the T/A for $650k or so and the Banshee for $2.5 million (sold at B-J for around $250k). The Thom McAnn car just sold at Mecum in Florida. Not anywhere near $850k Oh, and glad I wasn't the only guy who noticed the rusty crossmember Colin |
