Default Re: All Original 1962 impala convertible with 61K!

First of all, this is an incredible car for many reasons.

There were no Bel-air or Biscayne convertibles available in '62 so convertible buyers had to step up to the top-line Impala (which you have).

The convertible (5P) body style was rare in 1962.

Roman Red which was probably the best color available.

There's nothing wrong with an originally equipped 235 six cylinder. This car is pure gold the way it sits.

Most original cars like this have been molested with dubious V8 replacements that discredit the provenance....especially on a top-line Impala convertible

This car has obviously gone to a good GM family home because other people may not be able to resist the urge to modify that engine compartment.

Its worth more as a genuine authentic original 235 six than any other molested 283, 327, or 409 with no originality - any day of the week!

Enjoy that car. Its beauty man.

Thanks no plans on changing a thing. Well except the tires, they are 20+ year old Bias tires. The car won't be going anywhere but to a local cruise. It will be driven and enjoyed!

I have a bunch more pictures I will load soon. I took them for Vern for his full size Chevrolet book.

What are the odds my dad finds another 1962 impala convertible in our back yard. The car was owned by the same guy for 40 years. My dad was in the car club with him years ago. In 1977 he bought it with 16000 original miles in 40 years he only put 17000 miles on it. The car only has 33000 original miles 283 power glide car. Not as nice or even close to the red one with 62,000 miles the blue one had one repaint in 1980. It's starting to show its age. He has no idea what he will do with 2 but they both are time caplsules in my eyes

My dad sold the Blue 62 yesterday. He originally wanted to keep the blue one, it has a 283 and is an automatic and sell the red one which has a 6cylinder / 3 on the tree. After seeing the blue one, I talked him out of that idea. The red one has 62000 original miles and has never been restored and is excellent condition for being never touched. The blue one is nice but has had one repaint and is starting to show its age and the outside trim isn't even close to the red one. He put it on craigslist the other night and woke up to 10 emails. First guy pulled the trigger for 28K.
