Default Interesting '69 RS/Z Project

Not sure what to make of the trim tag or transmission partial VIN. Pretty rough project and I'd want to feel better about the authenticity of the trim tag and drivetrain stamps.

Reproduction cowl tag... the stem on the 6 and 9 is suspect?
And why would the gang stamp on the trans be out of alignment?

Lots of red flags here!

Agree with you Dan, the X33 on that trim tag looks suspicious. I'd love to be proven wrong if the seller cleans it up and takes a good hi-res pic.

Default 1969 z28

I have a picture of the car from 1971 and there is a 8mm movie of the car. I also have the complete history on the car. I was going to restore the car but decided to restore my 1968 RS Z28 instead. The tag is ligit and has never been off the car. The car is a true Daytona yellow, standard interior X33 RS Z28.

If you cleaned the tag and took a better picture it would help 100x. I recommend you also post the 1971 picture on the auction. Good luck!

So do you "know" the car or is it your car and you were going to restore it?

It was my car, I got over my head in my 1968 Z28 project and Bob at Camaro Specities helped me out by buying the car. The car has a lot of potential, I would have liked to have had the opportunity to restore it.

Rather interesting as several people seemed pretty certain the tag was a repo and now it appears it may be original based on HuggerSS knowledge of the car. If it turns out to be legit, then it's a good lesson as to how a car can quickly become questionable based on internet opinions. I'm sure no one had bad intentions, but seems better to be cautious when calling a tag a repo. In my opinion tag looks fine with the 12B date being the first week "X" codes were used, but I'm not a buyer.
