Default Borg Warner T-10 Close Ratio 4 speed-1963 Impala/Bel Air 409

Aluminum case T-10. Recently rebuilt and complete as shown. T10D-1 main case and T10 7D tail housing makes this correct for a 1963 Chevy. This is a true "409 only" trans with original VIN stamp and 2:20 first gear. End of tail housing has a small weld repair, but otherwise clean case. Ready to go, see pics for details. Asking $900. I can deliver to Corvette Carlisle on Friday.

Here are some good pics of the original Baltimore VIN stamp and front bearing retainer.

Joe,
Baltimore passenger car. The bearing retainer indicates it was used with the 553 aluminum bellhousing which was ONLY used in '63 on 409 cars. The trans could be used on SB cars by simply changing the retainer to the smaller diameter one to fit the 421 bell. The bolt circle and the front bearing itself are the same. It's a 2:20 close ratio.

I hope this helps.

Verne

I can also add that since the yoke is pushed in all the way, that means that the main shaft is not twisted. Unusual for a 409 car!

Thanks for the verification Verne... You're the "last word" on the 409 stuff. Now, who has a '63 409 car in need of the correct T-10?
