I went through Legends judging in 2014 with my Z and lost no points for originality or condition using a repo harness under the hood. I did paint the plastic clips that hold it to the sheet metal Brown as the repo clips were White and I couldn't find new Brown ones. I also swapped the plugs to the headlights from my old harness.

I went a step further and took the original brown connector off an original harness and installed on the repo as well as replacing the incorrect white alternator clip with black.

While we're talking about harness, who makes the closest harness? Thank you, Joe

Benny is a bowtie judge they don't go as far in detail as the legends judging does when I had my silver Z28 done they spent 3 and1/2 hour's going over it my Z still has all of the original harness still in it and I got all of the originality points when they did my jL8 Z 28 in the bowtie class they spent 20 minutes going over the car no points were deducted for t REPO wireing harness when the judge looked over the brakes he said he never did one before

The owner makes the car as he wants it and how his funds allow. I like to find and use original parts as much as I can. When it comes to wiring and things that have something to do with safety I like to use the best parts available if I feel the original or used parts are not up to par I change them. No matter what you use NOS or repro, those parts are still not original to your car so it is still a restoration no matter how you look at it. Most everything sooner or later becomes a very expensive "kit car". All in what you want and how much money you want to spend.

Reason I asked: I'm helping a customer with his judging sheets from MCACN....looking over his deductions and getting together the right parts.
One of several items that i personally didnt agree with was the deduction of reproduction wiring harness......thus me asking the experts out here on what is the rule for this. I see no need to change out the new harness - and like you all said - safety over looks. Its not a junk harness - might be an honest mistake as well.....
