Well, I'm hearing of more COPO cars selling for $170-$185K recently so I would assume the Yenkos will be selling for more than that. I'm still kind of shocked that the COPOs have jumped that much since last year. I remember that Brown RS COPO that couldn't sell for $105K late last year. I can't remember all the details on that car but I thought it was original motor and documented. I'm now surprised this Yenko did not get up to $200K since that appears to be the going range. Barrett Jackson is gonna be fun to watch!

I have seen a lot of restorations, what I look for in a restoration are cars that represent what was done on the assembly line. I see a lot of restorers that deviate from the factory processes for the wow factor, and a cleaner look. Each car restoration should be unique based on the what is found during the disassembly process .To me this is the most critical phase, without this information the car loses its true identity. Yes it require much time and become a tedious documetation process. Although these car were built on the assembly line they were not all built the same. There were many variables that caused this, such as; build date, supply shortages, vendor changes, assembly plants, to name a few. It seems that some restorers take the easy way out and produce generic cookie cutter restorations. As the say the devil is in the details

Well said Steve...I have seen some flashy but low scoring restorations this past year....one set of pics I saw was an 8 year old resto and the damn thing STILL sat up 6 feet in the air...maybe they used NOS Hi Jackers or something

Part#3955231 was used on all cowl inducted cars.Camaros-Chevelles till 1972.Tape was the object of choice back then, not glue like today.
Bobby Knight wishes the private auctions would evaporate.

If you look at the pics of the 69 Yenko road test in the Super Stock article in the June 69 issue you can clearly see the tape seam, as well as bodycolor overspray on the top edge of the firewall (no taped edge)... even in a B&W photo shows this. The tape on the seal appears to be in the exact spot as on this Rally Green car. I would think photographs taken in 69 of a brand new car would be a good reference for the way a car should be properly restored if there were any doubts.

There is a difference between correct restorations....and "pretty" restorations...depends on what you want to do with the car...judged shows or hot dog stand.

The cloth tape that was used can be replicated with a cloth tape that is available on the market today and it duplicates the originals exactly. Makes for a more complete restoration. "Details make the difference"

I just bought a new repro air cleaner kit from Goodmark and the seal has the correct cloth tape on the seam like original. It is not a cheap copy but identical to the original. Nothing like the black ductape used on that Yenko that is for sale. I will try and get a picture of it in the next day or so and post it...............RatPack...............
