Oddly enough, my buddy who begged me to drive the Cobra in the road tour was nowhere to be found! Thankfully, Tim was there and I had to twist his arm to do it Fred, all you had to do was show up and ask, don't be a stranger. Tim had an empty co-pilot's seat...
For some reason Tim wouldn't jump on that Cobra and keep up with us in the GT40...hmmm. Pretty cool stuff, though... Lee Holman in his continuation GT40 MkII, me driving my Mk.1 GT40 (on public roads "legally" for once ), and Tim ripping along in the 427 behind us. Dropped them all off at the concours downtown and had our "shuttle driver" DeLorenzo give us a ride back to the track in my 66 GT350, which he drove to pace the road tour and the races on Sunday with my girlfriend riding with him. I may have out-smarted myself as she hasn't stopped talking about it since
Here's Tim in the Cobra. Any photo posting experts here please feel free to do it the right way!
It was a great weekend, beautiful weather and great cars. Doesn't get much better than that.
Colin
Colin...I'll be sure to look for you/your cars on the next go-'round...sounds awesome...looking forward to it!

Sorry to offend you, Howard...actually I do know who sponsors the event but obviously slipped. Don't know if that makes me a "pussy" or not, but, my apologies. Do you want to break the news to all of your buddies that were there that they are now lesser men for racing with the VSCDA? I had a great weekend beating Corvettes...could really care less who sanctions the events as long as I can have three great days at RA like I just did. I thought you were selling your cars and that is why you weren't there?
I'll go write "VSCDA" on the chalkboard 200 times after class.
Colin
Colin, Sorry for the delayed response, I have been waiting for the rock scientists at the VSCDA to post the race results so I could see exactly what competition I missed, or in this case didn`t miss, (all the fast guys stayed home!) between you and I 17 cars in the Mustang feature marque race was a pitiful showing.....while you are correct both my cars are for sale (the yellow ex A/P car has been sold), but thats not the reason I didn`t attend. The VSCDA wouldn`t allow me to run my car in gr6, they thought they would bully me into gr9C probably because of how vocal I have been on their backpedaling and flip floppin from their rules Czar and I declined....the "pussies" are the VSCDA board members who for years allowed anything to run in gr6 turning a blind eye to over-prepared, lightweight, cheater cars, that is of course before two very stupid people did two very stupid things, one on and one off the track (three if you count the blind fool who tried to drive through you)..even now if a guy runs mid pack or back they still allow cheater cars...like a certain white Corvette with an all aluminum small block or that Sunbeam that finished third with the very rare 347" stroker option...or in the straight axle class a trio of Corvettes with illegal brakes, transmissions and motors among many other over-prepared illegal cars in various classes, but it appears the VSCDA has over valued themselves, the ELVF (which used to be my favorite race also) was down about 40 entries from last year and almost 70 cars from 2004.....but then again my wife is thankful I took all that money I would have spent racing this year and started throwing it at my house.....
regards, Howard
