I would think the reason the moderators asked to put a price on an item in the first place is because it made the item immediately available at a given price and there was no bidding, time wasting ,or sellers using the forum to decide what thier parts were worth. My thought is if you have a no reserve auction and want to advertise it here, it should have a buy it now for the site, and once that price is met on ebay then it no longer would be available at that price. That eliminates the seller that lists a 5000.00 item, starts it at 5.00 and puts no reserve on it essentially trying to get memebers to "bid" or make offers behind the scenes anyway. Its done this way because it costs almost nothing to start an auction at 5.00 and not have a reserve[1.00 per hundred is 50.00 on a 5000.00 item] Then when the item is stuck at 1500.00 with a day to go the auction gets ended and we havent avoided the problem. ASnyone that has the guts to list a 5000.00 item on ebay for 5.00 and noi reserve is going to end the auction early unless the item is at 4500.00 or so with a day to go or has a fiend bid on it for security. If there is a seller here that would roll the dice on a 5K item and list it for 5.00 with no reserve and no "insurance plan" please step forward. I know id never play a game of chicken with you
This is what I do. List the car with a buy it now for members, and if it goes above that all bets are off. Seems to work well for everyone........

Why was the 70 Corvette ad removed? It was an Ebay auction with no reserve like a lot of other members here list. The seller put in his description that the reserve wouldn't be revealed. The auction either was listed without a reserve or the reserve had been exceded. I can't figure out what the problem is. Is it ok for some members to list no reserve auctions with no price in the ad and not ok for others? James
BTW, I have nothing to do with the car or the auction in question and no not know the seller.

Price required on For Sale ads. If someone posts an interesting EBay ad just as an FYI...no biggie. If you are the seller...price it here...Barn has posted several cars for sale with prices. We try to be fair to everyone. If you want to sell it here at least price it for the people who support the site. Easy enough. I'm sure some sneak thru...we try.

As of July 28, 2008, here are the rules for posting in the classified section.
The intent of our classified section was never to replace Ebay, but rather to allow members to exchange parts without the worries that come from buying rare and valuable parts elsewhere. Therefore, here are the rules everyone must abide by.
1. Anyone listing a part(s) must complete their profile. We need to know who you are and how to contact you. 2. All items must be priced. 3. Non-members get two free ads/posts, additional ads will require a paid membership. 4. All items will be required to carry a SATISFACTION GUARANTEE, meaning, if the buyer receives the item and is not happy, their money will be promptly refunded.

Why are there all of these cars for sale without pictures? How do they plan on selling something without pictures? Very frustrating since I am looking to buy something else soon.....

I think it is a great idea for the Supercar Registry to benefit from forum members selling items on the web site. I also think there needs to be a section of the forum to post interesting finds from Ebay or other sources. A few forums I frequent have "Heads Up" sections.
I feel this forum should be the number one place to exchange all information about Supercars. As an example there is a nice COPO Camaro listed on Ebay right now that I am sure a lot of guys here would be interested in seeing.
One other point, the For Sale section has been abused by forum members posting non-muscle car and definitely non-supercar items. Perhaps if you want to list a muscle car but non-supercar item there should be an additional $5 fee. There could be a seperate fee based non-supercar section....
