If it means anything Mark, I have way more faith in your L89 Nova story than either of the cars that have surfaced!.

On the black car, wasn't its pedigree based solely on a supposedly original POP?.

Throw Charleys friend with the 1970 L-78 Camaro with an Auto trans. on this fire as well.

Well actually there was a couple photos that I didn't send out, but to frank, I've had it with this whole L-89 Nova subject. In a court of law, my word would be enough on the stand, but people here still have doubts. Just because they have never seen one, they doubt their existence. Many feel the same way about God but still built churches. I have already seen this window sticker, I had my doubts 'til I seen it and I had my proof. I really don't need to see it again and to be honest, I don't want to harass the man anymore. Especially for people that will STILL come up with a counter-arguement. I thought that (black?)car at the 2008 SCR had bulletproof docs.

Rather then take your ball and go home, why not prove everyone wrong with some sort of solid evidence. Afterall we are talking about one of a handful at most, so is it too much to ask for more then your word in regards to something you saw 40 years ago?

Well Tom, it was NOT 40 years ago and I don't know where you got that from. I acquired those photos and seen that window sticker FIVE years ago, so it's still pretty fresh in my mind. He took the window sticker and pictures home that day, told me I could have them a couple days later after seeing all my enthusiasm about them, but only brought the photos back and said next time he runs across the sticker, I could have that too. Well, we worked together another two years and I asked him at least TWICE a week, every week for two years to no avail. I'm sure I was a pain in his ass. I'm convinced he just wants to keep it, or something bad happened to it like thrown away on a stack on newspapers or something. I've seen it, and that's good enough for me and the few others that actually trust my credibility. To those that don't, they can go to Hell (if that exists, nobody has seen it either). He first described the car to me as a Nova SS 396 that he had purchased new and didn't even have an inkling of how rare that car might be. He didn't even mention the aluminum heads to me until the day he handed me the sticker/photos. He really had no idea what he owned was so special 'til I told him.

What exactly do the photos show? Any motor shots?
Joe

Mark,
I'm a firm believer that we should avoid the always/never line of thinking so I accept there's a chance these exist. I think it was Schonye who said he always thought 'IF' one appeared, he would expect it to be a '69 model, and I guess that's what I would have expected too. To hear of a '70 model with provenance is more of a surprise, at least to me.
Do you recall how it was designated on the window sticker? If you choose not to disclose it, or just don't care to discuss it any further I respect your decision.

Mark, please understand that there are no known L89 Novas. I personally don't believe the blk car is, and I think the pics provided by Alan Forman in another L89 thread on the silver car tend to disprove it also. I sometimes wonder if those two cars have a connection as they both seem to have the same issue.
Mark, does the car still exist, or does anyone know where it is? How about the motor, trans, rear? If the gentleman who owned the car has the paperwork, and either has the car, or know where it is, you wouldn't be hasseling him. You'd be doing him a huge favor by telling him that he may have the "holy grail" car. And it, and/ or docs that prove beyond reproach, that it truly exists, could make him a famous/wealthy man.

The closest I've found is a guy who ordered a 69, and ordered the al heads the same time so he could have them changed out when the car arrived, because they couldn't order it with the heads from the factory. It was a day 1 al head car. But was sold with the heads separate.

Please understand, it's not you. If me, or Charley, or Howie said we'd found a L89 car, the same scrutiny would still apply.

Hell, and Heaven are intangibles. The depth of belief is up to you. Cars have docs, and original owners, and friends of the owner with stories to tell. If nothing else, the guy needed some L60's, cause that thing ain't gonna hook.

Thanks Dennis, thank you Ken, and thank you Charlie and anybody else that takes my word. It's not like I'm trying to make a buck or anything. I even explained to him that "You know, you owned a car that is so rare, people doubt that they were even built. It's kinda important that you bring that sticker back in!" You don't know how bad I wish I just would have Xeroxed(copy machine 2 rooms away!) it and been done with it. The car's been gone for a long time, he only owned it for a couple years and sold it a long time ago back in the early '70's. Now, L-89 stuff aside, I think it was really a good looking car with the Dark Blue/Light Blue Bench interior and dressed up with the factory white pinstripe and Rally wheels on it. It seems like everyone you see restored today gets dog dish hubcaps or the SS-type wheels. Does anyone know how many of these Novas got Rally wheels like this? Just kinda curious.
