Here is a tentative schedule for SCR11. The only major change from past reunions, NO banquet. Dropping it was a tough decision, but it was something I had considered for several years, as Friday has always been a very busy day, and as the racing and auction have become more popular, only made matters worse. Something had to give, and I felt dropping the banquet was the way to go. Of course, I am always open to suggestions.

First, the tentative schedule.

Thursday, August 28th, 2008
Golf outing at nearby golf course
Meet 'n' Greet @ host hotel (Holiday Inn @ Collinsville,IL)
§ A "pre-show" show & cruise-in, complete with refreshments and lots of cool cars!

Friday, August 29th, 2008
Drag Racing @ Gateway International:
§ Gates open at 8am
§ Racing from 10am until 4pm
§ Move in at Gateway Center 5pm until 6:30pm [be there ASAP!]

§ 7:30pm - midnight - Building re-opens for folks to visit and view cars. During this time we will have a cash bar and snacks, and have the auction.

Saturday, August 30th, 2008
Indoor Supercar Show & Outdoor Musclecar Show @ Gateway Center:
§ Doors open to public from 9am to 4pm
§ Cars need to be out of building Saturday evening

Admission to the track on Friday will be $10.00, and anyone wishing to make a pass down the track will need a tech card, which this year will be $20.00 for sYc (paid) members and $50.00 for non-members. Also, everyone PLEASE bring a helmet. May not be required for some cars, but a good idea.

PLEASE, no cloned supercars at the track, but are welcome to show outdoors with the Gateway Camaro Club on Saturday.

NOTE: As in the past, there will quite a bit of media coverage of not only the event, but of several cars attending. To insure that information published is accurate as possible, I would strongly urge all attendees to take a few minutes and type up something containing all of the pertinent information about you and your car(s). Make several copies and have them with your car. That way, when your car is being photographed, all you have to do is hand them this sheet.

PLEASE, no cloned supercars at the track

does this mean supercars ONLY can race or are you allowing others to race as in years past ? meaning non supercar...say a 68 post chevelle / yenko jr dragster.

I think Tom means that other non super cars can race...he just doesn't want cloned supercars getting photo time when the real Mc Coys are at the track... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I could be wrong though? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jeff, as i9n the past, other members are still allowed to race, just no clones of supercars, say, a '69 Yenko Nova clone/tribute/replica.

As long as the Chevelle is not dolled up to look like a Yenko/B-M/Gibb, etc, good to go. No problem with the JR. dragster..

Tom, can you tell us more about the auction?

sYc

Mike,

I think most everyone will agree that the auction is a fun activity that generates a nice chunk of change for charity, but went a tad too long last year.

So here is what I am kicking around. Some time Friday evening, say 8ish, auction off the "bigger ticket" items, 20-30 ??, and the remaining itmes (such as capes, t-shirts, etc) have them reasonably priced for sale.

As always, I am open to suugestions.

IMO, same as in the past. The name escapes me right now, but it is the one Xplantant and family are involved in.

Just an opinion. What if we get all the cars parked in the building and after 30-45 minutes of the cash bar being open, then start the auction. With people on their own accord to go get dinner, it is very likely that they will not find their way back which may hurt the auction results. Also with fewer people, this will cause less hipe and excitement which in turn will decrease total proceeds. Just like at Barrett-Jackson, we need a captive audience and a larger number of people to help raise the hipe and promote the bidders, otherwise bidding may fall flat.

Since Annie still has no phone or computer service after 2 weeks at Green Acres (and I am moving there.....why?), she has asked me to mention an idea that she, I and others have had for several years. As some may know, Annie is bringing her car this year with some new attire. She would like to promote the car and where it all started. Because of this temporary change, we both decided because of safety reasons it might not be a good idea to make a hot pass and others may feel the same about their cars. However, many would love to have a picture of their car taken in a retro look at the staging line or at an angle just in front of the Christmas tree.

Like Annie says, as long as she pays her fee to run, what difference does it make if she makes a hot pass or just stays there long enough for a few photos to be taken and then slow cruises onto the 1/8 mile exit. Or as another suggestion it could be done very early on in the day or during a track shut down break? Maybe take 3-5 photos and then move on and let the next guy come up. All told it likely would not take more then 15-20 minutes total for everyone that would want to do it. Just a suggestion.

I realize by not having the auction during a banquet could hurt attendance, but I have confidence that members will show up and bid, once again supporting this very worthwhile cause.

The track has always been open to any member who wanted to “pull to the tree”, whether making a hard pass or just cruising. The only requirement, even though maybe not racing, the track wants everyone who gets onto the track to be teched, and have signed the necesary form(s).
