View Full Version : New rules for classified section
As of July 28, 2008, here are the rules for posting in the classified section.
The intent of our classified section was never to replace Ebay, but rather to allow members to exchange parts without the worries that come from buying rare and valuable parts elsewhere. Therefore, here are the rules everyone must abide by.
1. Anyone listing a part(s) must complete their profile. We need to know who you are and how to contact you.
2. All items must be priced.
3. Non-members get two free ads/posts, additional ads will require a paid membership.
4. All items will be required to carry a SATISFACTION GUARANTEE, meaning, if the buyer receives the item and is not happy, their money will be promptly refunded.

Awesome Tom!
How does this affect the people that advertise their ebay auctions? I know that they have to list a reserve...but what other rules apply to them? Do they have to offer a satisfaction guarantee as well? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif
Anyone who uses this site to promote/sell their products must follow our rules.

Great news!.
Is it still Ok as before to post heads-up links to eBay ads we may see?.
And to be perfectly clear, in a situation as above and the linked eBay item has a reserve also happens to be a member's item that's been linked, does this put the member in a spot where he's then expected to reveal the reserve?.

Links to Ebay ads, as long as the poster is not the seller, are still OK. Otherwise, everyone MUST follow the rules.

Just to clarify, am I not allowed to post my OWN ebay auctions even if I list my reserve price to everyone or post a "no reserve" auction? I am a paying member as well.

Nicely done. Finally people are standing up and requiring sellers stand behind what they sell. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Hmmm a novel way of doing business, some people may find it quite a bit more lucrative as well... long term satisfied repeat buyers who will go out of their way to recommend you to others don't fall from trees; however, the guys here, if treated fairly, will do just that.

I fully support the new classified rules......except #3. ONE classified is worth membership! Plenty liberal to give two freebies.
Great job.

Tom , Great job !! Everybody that's a member here deserves to be treated like this. Although I've only dealt with members,....there does seem to be a lot of what I would call "drive by's" lately ( Non members selling and using the sites reputation to their advantage) Great Idea !!

Great idea... but is there anything that prevents non members from posting their 3rd (and 4th and 5th) ads, or will it just be another rule that is routinely broken, like all cars and parts listed without prices? I think there should be a form where you need to post your price, your e-mail and your location before the server even accepts the ad.

Tom,
Excellent!!!!!!!
So easy now, even a Caveman can do it!!!
Excellent change to the posting rules. I’ve never understood how some people can post part after part after part and never step up and become a member. One question. Does the “SATISFACTION GUARANTEE” apply to cars as wells as parts. Not that I have a problem if it does just want to be clear on that point. I’m not into refunding money on a car because the buyer’s wife chews him a new one when the car arrives…..with out her prior approval.
Great Job http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I see Rick's point. The buyer can get buyers remorse and use the satisfaction guarantee to reverse the deal.

Or end up finding something cheaper... or closer to what they want... etc etc etc...
We realize there will be disagreements, with two sides to the story. As we do with any controversial issue, the admins/mods will look at the facts and make the final decision. While we cannot make a seller return the funds, nor make a buyer be pleased with an item, hopefully we can prevent them from putting the screws to other members by way of loosing their privilege to post.
I know of no perfect system, but hopefully we can make most transactions generated on this site run smoothly.

Tom,
How is the 2 post limit managed? Will the mods have to oversee everything and remember who posted what or can you control the ability to post by the persons username/IP ?

On rule #1, if names and email addresses are absolutely necessary now, do non-members still get to view these?.
And if they still do, are changes pending that will make this so...or is this even a possibility?.
And sorry to sidetrack the rules thread but as mentioned by many in previous postings, is there any chance of increasing the quantity of PM's for members?.
One thought is, is it possible to make a replied message retain the one recv'd below the new text...like an email does?.
I know this would've kept my own inbox a lot lighter!.
Lately I've been manually cutting and pasting the incoming messages below the replied outgoing ones so I could delete the ones that came in...but is this something that can be done w/ the program?.
