I'm sure Chad Pennington is crying in his cherios this morning but " the great one " is a member of Gang Green !!.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif
I'm excited for you guys, but I gotta say what an absolute image & media mess this all is.All the hype & drama surrounding him for the last few years,"will this be the year he retires..will this be the year he retires"?
Each play scrutinized as if it will be his last ever.
All the ceremony he received last year upon finally making the decision that he will indeed retire, which I personally hated to see as he truly is THE Best in my book.(and this from a Diehard Bear fan).
Then he says I DNT NO ABT RTIRE,the Packers say stay home.
Then he says he will play elsewhere, the Packers say stay home.
Then the fans ban together to hold a rally at Lambeau and say help keep him here.
The Packers say stay home.
Then an arbitrator steps in and says lets make it work for GreenBay.
The Packers & Favre mutually agree and he's back on the team, bound for training camp.
The very next day the Packers & Favre part ways and say this is not going to work due to personality conflicts.
Tampa Bay looks like the chosen land and an airline reservation is made.
Now they say it's up to you New York,New York.
I congratulate you guys & hope he does not end up an asterik on your roster.
He truly was one of the Best players ever. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

I feel bad for Pennington as was a real class act. A good guy. But with that said, I also with all his injures the last few years and lack of being able to throw the ball down field ... The Jets are better football team today.

You should precede that statement with the word 'Hopefully' http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
If the media circus continues, it may cause problems. As a player, he was outstanding, but the play/retire flip-flopping makes me lose respect for the man. Sad.

I sure was hoping that Tampa Bay Bucs would have pulled it off to get Brett.
He would have been close enough for me to watch him play in person one time before it was over again.

everything Jet fans say have "hopefully" tied to the end of the sentence...

The Jets have a poor Offensive Line and that's not good for Favre. Interceptions maybe greater than Touchdowns. Jets didn't give up much to get him but I think they're still better tham before but it won't matter much. There's at least 4 better teams in the AFC and they will be lucky to make the playoffs as a wildcard. As a NFC homer it does make me happy that he's no longer in the conference. Greenbay is weaker and the Vikings, Bucs and Bears didn't get better.
Go Cowboys!

He sure wore out his welcome here.
He owned the press in WI; he won't there. The level of expectation is through the roof. Yesterday the Mayor of NY gave him a key ring and promised him the key to the city if the Jets win the Super Bowl. Jets were 4-12 last year.
Lets see: Hasn't taken a snap with the Jets, doesn't know their offense, doesn't move well, season starts in three weeks.
Good luck Brett!

Green Bay will regret getting rid of him, Rodgers is injury prone and once he has a few bad games watch out!!!!!!! They will be wishing they had the pro bowl QB back under center.

I just don't see why Green Bay thought they would be better off with a quarterback who never started an NFL game over a guy who (sure I realize he acted like a DA) has 16 years in the same system. Is number one in every category as a QB and is going to be a 1st ballot hall of famer. Brett would have to prove to me he was washed up before I would put my ass on the line for a guy who hasn't proved Sh*t.

As long as Favre was around no other qb was EVER going to get any playing time or even reps in practice; Favre set the stage for his backups to fail. Is it Rodgers fault he hasn't proven himself? Ever wonder why Favre was still playing the 4th quarter in games that were decided? Gotta pad my stats man. Detmer, Brunell, Hassleback all went on to do well elsewhere after rotting on the bench in Green Bay. And 16 years with the same offense gets a bit predictable: 2nd & 7, Driver lines up in the slot. Duh....
Once again the team is known as the Green Bay Packers. It has been Brett Favre & the Green Bay Packers long enough.

...my dream job would have been being the back-up quarterback for the Packers while Favre was there...how can you beat collecting millions of dollars to keep the bench warm!...
