Well, I think everyone got a time trial and maybe a few got a first round before the rain stopped things. The place was packed. So many cool cars! I apologize for no photos, but I was busy with Ronnie Evans' '62. I did get a video of his only time run, but it'son someone else's camera recorder.

I am happy to report and acknowledge Ronnie’s FIRST 9 second run in his long history of racing a ’62 409 car!. The one time shot he had produced a 9.908 @ 136. The funny anecdote about that run was the fact that Ronnie forgot where the timing slip booth was, and he proceeded all the way down the return road in front of the grandstands, and then made his way back to the pits. He borrowed a 4-wheel to go back and retrieve his timing slip. Let’s just call it his “victory lap” for the crowd!!!! Ronnie is truly an icon and unsung hero in drag racing, with a history that starts in 1962.
I’m privileged to call him one of my best friends and humbled to have my name on his car just for being a helper.

He mentioned that a shoe polish bottle found it's way under the clutch pedal when he went for second gear. He was on the rev limiter when he forced 2nd without the clutch. Better things are in store for that beautiful car!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Verne, I guess he oughta patent that lucky shoe polish bottle as a PCOEPT (Permanent Clutch Over-Engagement Prevention Tool.)

His clutch engages 1" off the floor, so anything under it means NO clutch.!
Lucky for him, he has a trans that can take it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
