As I have changed direction in my collection to original unrestored cars I am selling my black 69 L88 convertible. It is one of 2 69 black convertibles known and was ordered new by Tony DeLorenzo. It was restored with no expense spared by by Ken and Gary Naber in 2003.As with most L88s it does not have the original drive train.Awards include Bloomington Gold,Special Collection(twice)Hall of Fame,NCRS Top Flight,Gold Spinner and Triple Crown.Docs include a signed and notarized affidavit from Tony DeLorenzo, copy of the original window sticker and complete owner history. This is a well known car in the Corvette circle.Price is $450,000 and I would be interested in interesting muscle car trades especially unrestored survivors.I am happy to email pictures to anyone interested. For more info please call me @214-707-3000 or email [email protected] Thank you

This is a great car for those who haven't seen it. Production figures for '69 L88's are 116 total with only six real black/black cars. Four coupes and two convertibles. My old black/black coupe recently sold for $600k. This price is very much in line for a rare low production factory race car.

I've seen it many times. Great car and a straight up owner. This is the real deal.

I agree with the above posts, it is a great car and a black convertible too! I think that the price is very fair and will look downright cheap to whoever buys it 3/5 years from now.

Got a change to visit with Tony about this car as he was driving Colin and me around in Colins '66 Shelby GT 350 last fall. Funny to order a car like that for your "street car". I guess when your race car is a worked over L88, you get a car like this for the street. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Not to take away from Tony D's own success as a racer but having a father who was a GM VP probably didn't hurt any when you were ordering up your street cars?.

Sorry to sidetrack but on the subject of Tony's Owens-Corning cars, does anyone know what happend to that loose hood that was floating around within the last couple years?.
And didn't the original graphics on it include the number that Yenko was running when he was co-driving the w/ Tony and the boys?.

Best to you in selling the L88 Roadster...also to the lucky bastard that end up w/ it!.

Gotta look out for that Tony guy, let him drive your car and the next thing you know he's putting the moves on your old lady...Hey Tony, where's your other hand?

Bastard returned my car out of gas, with bald tires and wore out brakes. Cana said he was fast, but not in a good way? Don't know what that means?

I got to meet and spend some time with Tony at the Yenko Stinger 40th anniversary reunion 2 years ago. What a blast that was. A really fun experience with a great guy.

Wow, there are coupes which have recently sold for more.

Anyone see the Blue Automatic at Russo and Steele which sold for over $400,000.00 all in, this past January?

In my opinion, the 1969 L88 was the ultimate factory racing package made available to the public via an RPO, especially based on the options that you could or could not get with it.

Can anyone link up that cool video, which was put together for the L88 Invasion at Bloomington Gold?

I don’t think this is the one you’re thinking of, but it’s pretty cool:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g2u8MtMrcE

BTW, I agree this black roadster of Mr. DeMesy’s is priced quite low compared to what these cars will command in the future. Seems too good to be true! (I’m sure it will quickly find an appreciative new owner.)

Keep in mind, the price of the ’67 L88s have sky-rocketed in the last few years (over $million). This despite the fact that the C3 L88s, with their aerodynamic refinements allow them to out-perform the midyears in MPH performance. It is the ’68-‘69s alone that can attain the 200MPH plateau! It is usually the case that the fastest of the breed will be the most sought-after; the ‘67’s ultra-low production #s (only 20) have allowed this exception to the rule.

IMHO, the greatest potential for investment growth remains with the ’68-’69 L88s; their latent dominance yet unrealized. Under 200 ever produced, their exclusivity and scarcity will withstand any possible declines in the marketplace. Their position as the ultimate Chevy performers of the muscle car era will see their value close in on the present “top dogs” of the collector car market.

These great achievers deserve nothing less. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

------If you watched the videos on vetterons "youtube" find, Joes (Tonys) L88 is the black 69 with the top down. You can also see the L88 Nickey is featuring. All in all roughly about 40 million worth of fiberglass going by (give or take)!!!........Bill S

Stefano, I know the blue coupe that you are referring to. It is an original drivetrain car, but the auto trans seems to hurt its value. It still brought around 425K which was a fair price at the time. As it was mentioned by Vetteron, the 68/9 cars have been undervalued for years and are finally being recognized for what really were, one of the only true race packaged car available from the factory. A cars like Joes with its ownership history is a deal at its price, my 2 cents.

Thanks everyone for your comments. After reading them I almost want to take it off the market but I have changed direction to the unrestored cars so I have put what I and apparently everyone else thinks is a very fair price on it.I have been bombarded with requests for pictures so here you go.

Has the Owens Corning L88 on the front cover and King of the L88's refering to Tony DeLorenzo. More exciting to me than owning one of Howard Hughes cars! [ QUOTE ]

That is an absolutely Beautiful and Very Well Documented
L-88.
I was Lucky enough to have a 1968 L-88 Roadster. Unfortunately it was not well documented other than it started life as Corvette Bronze and when it was Raced it was painted Yellow. Then when Restored it was done in Black. It had all the proper L-88 stuff, Many experts looked the car over and could Not dispute it, But no one could verify it. I have pic's from when it was a race car, and some pic's from when I owned it. It now resides in North Carolina with a very happy new owner who like me, gets the Thrill of driving an L-88 with a much lower cost.
Good Luck With The Sale. I am sure some very lucky guy will be glad to add that to his collection.
Here's a shot of mine. Undocumented a color change (not what I would have done) but Fast with a Capital F and Fun too.
Here's a photo from a local show.

For those who might like to see. It also keeps this Ad at the top. Just trying to help since it's out of my reach now.
Here is my 68 before resto when raced by the original owner who is in the picture. Unfortunaely when we found him he was how you say a Few Fries Short of a Happy Meal.
He couldn't verify his name let alone a car. Damn...

Here's a photo ogf it going to a new home in Carolina when I sold it.

I know this is a small pic, but it's the Motor.
You'll recognize the L-88, Numbers matched too boot.
BUT, No Paperwork

It was a Fast Bastard... Had a guy in a Porsche Turbo try to Race me. I had burned a plug wire and was arching and still Blew his Doors in.
Nasty Cars
Good Luck selling that Beautiful 1969 It has all the Right Stuff. WOW!
