Some of you may have met Dave and Amy at last years SCR or at Chevy Vettefest.

They were the hosts of the cool gathering of real race cars that was at the back near the swap area at the last Fall show. Dave and Amy also own a neat black Chevy II that they have taken on Power Tour as Long Haulers for the past several years. Good People!

The footage and professionalism look excellent. But in my opinion the music really takes away from it.. I want to hear the music the cars make, not some worn out old classic rock song drowning out the sounds of open headers and jamming gears. Just about every car video online, dvd, whatever has the same old music from beginning to end... and it's pretty tiring.. Especially when you just want to hear the machines and put yourself in the moment.. I hope the official SCR11 dvd doesn't end up like all the rest... Especially since these are SuperCars! I swear if I hear Born To Be Wild one more time I'll light my eyebrows on fire... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

We do vidoes to appeal to the masses and the majority of people want music that relates to the vehicles when watching. I don't remenber seeing a 68 Cutlas, 74 Nova or any Fords at this event... Your opinion has been noted.

Personally, "Frankenstein" was about perfect for the trailer. I hear what Ed is saying, and if you could have some passes with tires squealing, headers blaring, and gears jamming, that should be something that we would all appreciate. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Call me old school, or old fashioned, or maybe just old, but I enjoyed the mix of car sounds with classic music. Both on their video and Xplants. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

Tom,
You're not 'Old School',.......... you're just old! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif And Thank God, so am I!!!!

But the plus side to that is; WE LIVED THROUGH THE ABSOLUTE BEST TIME POSSIBLE (for a car nut!), and the music was a BIG part of that era. I wouldn't trade it for anything!!!

And for what it's worth, I agree; BOTH the videos rock! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Thanks guys. I always make sure on our final DVDs that the car sounds are in the surround sound and the music is background to the cars.
I'm working hard on the final video to get it done asap for you all.

Thank you for noting my opinion. You want my advice? I'm sure you do. Why not make 2 versions of the DVD and let your customers choose which one they would enjoy more? One with all the annoying music from beginning to end covering up all the real sounds.. and one without.. Instead of appealing to the "masses" and selling a few.. why not appeal to "everyone" and sell them all? I'd be happy to buy a DVD without the tiring old music ruining it for me. Because I'll be honest.. Every single song you have picked out to be in the "background" .. I and most everyone else have heard that song a thousand times if we heard it once.. and like I said, it just makes your DVD the same as everything else out there. Be the one to break the mold huh? Your videos look high quality and professional. I'm sure it would be no big task to make one without the music along side one that has it for those who want that. I seriously doubt I'm the only person on this site who would rather hear the cars and the atmosphere from the show rather than a classic rock music dvd.. Hell if anything, sell me a dvd of your raw footage.. I'll take that anyday. If my only choice is the dvd full of music, I guess I'll pass.

I agree about Xplants.. his was great.. But the difference is Bruces was a slideshow of pics. Not much you can do but set that to a music background.. But when it's good video with good sound that captures the atmosphere and the cars of something like the supercar reunion.. sorry, leave the music out. It really just takes away from it. imo

We are open to suggestion, it takes about 60hours of work to edit 60 minutes of video. How much is it worth to you? Our hourly rate is $35 per hour.

Why not "dim" the music at select points to let the "real music" that the cars make reach our ears? Best of both worlds.

Check out what this amatuer did (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M386HddllY) ! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I liked the "amateur" video. Especially the right hand drive part at the end.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif But I was worn out by the old rock 'n roll music over the car video thing a long time ago. And when I seen the preview of the SCR11 video to be exactly the same thing as everything else that has come along the past 10 years I figured I'd offer my opinion on it. To be honest I don't appreciate the condescending remarks from the video "producer". Apparently the cars I own are $hit and I can't afford his time according to his replys to me. I've been around here a long time.. Been to several SCRs.. And have met and know a lot of the great people on this site. You have 12 posts on here to sell your dvds and you talk down to anyone who has a differing opinion or suggestion. nice ....

Ed...Where did you see condescending remarks ? I believe his comments about Cutlass, 74 Nova and Fords were in comparison to the Supercars you see at this event versus the stuff at other shows. I don't see him talking down to you but I do see him sticking up for what he believes will sell. He is doing it to put food on his table and you have no experience selling the stuff so what makes you qualified to tell him how to do it ? I'm not nuts about the music either but I have also done in car videos and they do get boring with just car sounds.

Charley.. I guess you feel the tone of it more when it's directed at you.. ya know? I may not have experience making and selling those types of dvds... But I know what I would buy and what I want. Isn't it written somewhere the "customer is always right"? Well here I am the customer.. You aren't going to shove something down my neck I don't want, right?
