If you're totally bored with the regular presidential politics and voting decisions, feel free to go to this website and place your vote for whichever car you like.

http://www.hemmings.com/mmoy/

And no, I didn't just post this because my car is one of the nominees. It's my wife's fault, she made me do it...yeesh, I'm sounding like Bill Clinton already.

I'm NJSteve and I approved this message. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Hmm, a lot of nice cars there, including Sam Griffith's Savoy. And an original owner, untouched L78 Camaro.

Steve, your car is in some fine company there! And deservedly so I might add. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Maybe Ill vote 5 times??? Ach!!! That wouldnt help the eventual outcome a bit. Gonna have to think about this.........Bill S

Its interesting that over 10% of your posts have been pumping up and promoting this car.
As for this statement:
"What looks better a fresh restored or a Unrestore? I know the 1968 Z/28 Camaro Convertible has got alot more public attention."

My preference has always been unrestored survivors, however a close second is a correctly restored real car. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

It's a Dam shame when you got to a show and a clone win's over original car's, No way is that right, I can also go a step further to say the same for driven car's to trailer Queen's. but ** Real vs Made up ++, No, for voting them top Muscle car.....Kasey

"What looks better a fresh restored or a Unrestore?"

Well.........if we were comparing an original muscle car to a custom resto-mod ( I believe that is the correct term for the 68Z28, not a fresh restore) I would have to say the orginal factory muscle car with all it's original muscle equipment is more of a candidate for Muscle car of the year.
http://cll.hemmings.com/story_image/109266-500-0.jpg

I am also sure the Z28 is entitled to awards in it's own class.

However, Hemmings seems to leave the door open for anything...."So how do we determine which cars get to show up on the ballot? Several criteria are considered, the most obvious being the condition of the car. But then, we tend not to feature cars that aren't quite nice, so that doesn't always help all that much. The rarity of a certain car can factor in if other elements are in order, and sometimes just the story behind a featured muscle machine might sway us. Feedback from the readership in the form of e-mails and letters after the story on a particular car comes out can also have an influence.

The 12 cars from the 2008 issues we've published so far this year exemplify the range of reasons that land a feature car on the MMOY ticket, with some concours-restored cars, an original unrestored example, some factory skunk works specials, a couple drag racers, and even a never-was creation.

very well put frank261 when you said"Can't we just get along and appreciate and respect each other TOYS"

us having different opinions is the whole beauty of this site!!!

i respect everybody's opinion here!

i dont frequent this site as much as others.but i do check in every once in a while...and when i do,it seems my car keeps coming up on here.....not necesarily in a negative way,but not usually positive either.

i would like to thank my P R person frank 261...lol....

everytime my car receives an award, whether its locally or nationally,it has been a bumpy ride! many many opinions, comments and views.....it has been a learning experience for me.i have met many great people.some very high profile.....

my car was nominated for the goodguys musclecar of the year award and hemmings muscle machine award not by me,but by our fellow car brothers and sisters.we all know cars.....we should all learn from eachother....

we all have our own opinions or idea's of what the best muscle car or muscle machine may be...

and we all shall respect eachothers opinions.....

the muscle machine nomination and the muscle car nomination will be very very interesting to see the outcome......this may give all of us an idea of what the general car enthusiasts considers to be the ultimate muscle machine.

lets respect their opinion as well....

John.............

I voted for Jim Houses original 69 Camaro SS L78 with 22,000 original miles. I was fortunate to see the car in person and it is a time capsule. He is the original owner of this beauty and it had to be real hard to hold onto this car for all these years. How many did and how many wish they held onto one of there original muscle cars? He also drives the car to all the local shows! Don’t get me wrong I like the concourse show cars but they are really 2 different classes in my opinion. But when it comes down to the muscle car of the year it is up to the public. Just my 2 cent’s!

What is a Huffy Rail Ridder anyway? Do you mean a Huffy Rail rider, i.e. you ride an old 1960's Huffy Rail Chopper style bicycle? Or do you rid the world of Huffy Rail Chopper bicycles?

You mean the City Slicker? Was that the neat extra shifter handle that activated the rear brake to leave a big black patch of rubber on the street?

I restored mine myself. There are rather easy to do. I used a wire brush and drill to strip the frame. The main expense was rechroming and polishing the stainless. As for paint, it turned out that when the paint store did the photo analysis of the color, it was a dead on match for 1970 International Truck Schoolbus Yellow. I had them make it up into individual spray cans since I don't have a spray gun or compressor. There are a lot of people reproducing the decals and graphics for these bikes. But remember before removing or disassembling anything, always take a ton of photos, especially of any graphics. Place a ruler next to the decals in the photo - so you can blow the photo back up to the right size if you're having a decal maker reproduce them for you.

I read Steve's post right after he had written it. I remembered reading about his awesome car, so I decided to vote for it. After going to Hemmings and scrolling down to find his car, I saw my car. I recognized it immediately LOL. I told my wife about it and she jokingly said that I should vote for my own car. That way I wouldn't get skunked. Sorry Steve, I did vote for my own car. I'm proud to think that the Hemmings editors thought enough of my car to nominate it. Every one of the cars on the list deserves to be there. I wish I could vote for every one of them. Whether the cars are original, restored or manufactured, everyone of them is beautiful in its own unique way. Even though Chevrolet is my favorite, I still like the other manufacturers also. It would be a boring world if we couldn't race and beat the other manufacturers with our Chevrolets. Car owners are proud of their cars or they wouldn't keep them in the condition that they do. Hemmings chose this group of cars because they thought they were the best choice from each magazine. The Ranchero was at Musclepalooza on Sunday. Although I did not get to talk to the owner, he keeps the car in beautiful shape. I was glad that I got a chance to see it. As for my car(the one I was only going to keep for a year) I'm awfully glad that I hung onto it so that the people who weren't there could see how they were originally built. No matter which car wins, it will be the people's choice and good luck to all.

------Im struck by the fact that the owners of the two Camaros we are talking about are not only NOT arguing about which car is best but seem to genuinely like the others car. Others who dont have a car on the list seem more inclined to place one over the other. Get over it,,,They are all great and I believe that all the owners are ecstatic over just being on the list. We should just be happy for them all, and reflect on how awesome it is that our forum has sooooo many contenders!!!!!.......Bill S

Andy, I work at a large law firm in NYC and you'd be amazed at what I see. There are quite a few people around here who think they are incredibly intelligent (they prove this by being condescending towards pretty much everyone), yet literally do not know the difference between "your" and "you're." I can't tell you how many e-mails I've received containing a sentence as such: "Your wrong. The correct way...." It's unbelievable.

With that said, back to the cars...! Although I think they're all incredible, it's down to the black Nova and the sleeper '69 F85 for me, I believe.

Frank, my bike was in much worse shape than that. All of the rusty areas look to be on the stainless metal - the chain guard, sprockets, mud guards, spokes, rims, etc. Just using 0000 grade steel wool polishes that stuff right off. Use a little chrome polish with the steel wool and you would be amazed at the results. I would just degrease and keep the purple frame as is. It looks fine. As for the seat, I have seen repro seats in that style on various websites, like ebay. Nice bike!

Now, to get completely segwayed into off-topic oblivion - My pet peeve is the mispronunciation of "height" as highth. Whenever I hear that on any one of those Speed TV tech shows, my hackles go up.

Here's an easy test: http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

Interrogation Question 1: When you enter a room and it's dark, what do you turn on?

Answer: The light

Interrogation Question 2: If you are not wrong you are?

Answer: Right

Interrogation Question 3: When you go the doctor and he measures how tall you are, he measures your?

Answer: Height

Ok, enough of my inane ramblings. Everyone can now go back to misspelling and mispronouncing their postings as officially dictated by their individual, regional dialects.

So far it is all fun but on a more sensitive note. Some people just don't spell correctly but I would hate for them to not want to post because of people getting on them about their spelling. Everyone is welcome to post even if you can't spell.

Granted, he didn't bring much in the way of a finesse game, but seems a shame to toss Frank just for digging a clone - even HMM might want to give it an award, and who's canceling their subscription?

Plus, if it doesn't win, can always whip up some cool stuff that says it did, right?

"What looks better a fresh restored or a Unrestore?"

"Well.........if we were comparing an original muscle car to a custom resto-mod ( I believe that is the correct term for the 68Z28, not a fresh restore) I would have to say the orginal factory muscle car with all it's original muscle equipment is more of a candidate for Muscle car of the year. "

I was not trashing the car, it looks like a true work of art. I just dont't see how a car that never was, that started out as a bunch of (rare) parts, could be a candidate for a Muscle Car of the year award. Sorry to offend anyone if I have.

What is going on here?………
Wow I’m completely and utterly speechless at what I’m reading!

If you ask me this board should be titled Supercar/Musclecar Discusting Board!

First I must say there are a few good people on here that I have met. But generally speaking, as a group, you guys sound disgusting. You children should be ashamed of yourselves!

I won’t throw darts at anybody directly but one thing is certain:

Frank 261 and Wagonman is not the same person! We are not related, and only know each other from this board!

I’m sorry Frank for dragging you into this, but your enthusiasm and love for my car has brought onto your shoulders some of the burden I have faced on this site! I truly feel it has been unjustified that they are talking about locking you out in this site and calling you and I idiots. It seems that being a sYc member and sending in a donation carries no meaning and therefore receives zero respect or protection from other members or even non-members.

Another comment has been made that “this site is not for clones or people that love them” so perhaps I am due a refund of my $$$ donation…..I will go away.
My car pop’s up on this site without my knowledge. It keeps popping up time and time again!

“Parts car of the year?” Ok that was funny I must admit!!!

Perhaps it should be “parts you wanted but didn’t get car of the year!”

I did not nominate this car for muscle car of the year and muscle machine of the year. Your piers did! If it wins get over it! If it loses, be glad…You seem to care about it more than the owner itself. I built this car for a reason. I wanted to, and it can be done. We all know what’s going on….I know some of you guys have fake cars….docs……I just admit mine are fake!
I’m the good guy! Remember?

In another thread my car is mentioned again, Colin Comer mentioned that my car with its fake docs, stamps etc is happening and needs to be recognized in any purchase. Do I have the only car on here with fake docs?

I consider my mission accomplished. I got the word out nationally and perhaps globally.

To me, that alone makes my car worth millions…………

After i get my flux capacitor fixed on my PQ2000 cloning machine i will start on my next project.

Wagonman...

The disrespect part is no doubt wrong but you've landed on a site where real cars and documents still mean something to a lot of members and to seemingly change positions of why you built the car and make statements like the one below from July make you and your car harder to accept..
The last part w/ the warning to us is especially hard to swallow...or forget!.

Again everyone's free to do as they please but personally I can't help but feel your talents and money could be spent on better things?.

If you make a Z16 ragtop, 70 LS6 Nova or whatever else and just let them be the cool cars you created without partaking in the deceiptful paperwork and hokey document game that many here despise, it wouldn't be surprising if there was a waaaay different attitude towards you and your cars around here?!

Best to you...and Frank!.

"I was not trashing the car"

I am glad to see you have a sence of humor. I meant what I said before, : "It looks like a true work of art"

I am not against any one building a Clone, that's probably the only way some of these cars will ever be used as they were intended to be used on a daily basis. I just don't see how your car could have been nominated in the first place, that's just my opinion, mine alone. I am not trying to get off track here, it is just not my opinion of what I perceive as a "Muscle Car". Now that the voting has been closed, I guess we will have to see what happens. Enjoy your car, you should be proud of all the discussion it has brought to the board.
